The 2022 season was the beginning of something special at Winter Park High School. The Wildcats worked freshman Ayden Pouncey (6-3, 160) onto the field seeing him thrive against 4M Florida offenses. Teams tested the 2026 prospect with 13 tackles, three passes defended, and a pick produced in five games played. College programs have responded by extending seven scholarship opportunities.

During the 2023 season, scouts will see Pouncey all over the field with plans to play receiver, safety, and corner.

“I’ve been working on my technique,” Pouncey said. “I am new to the DB position; I’m trying to get my technique right.”

Asked if he prefers one side of the ball over the other, Pouncey responded, “Mainly the defensive side, but I don’t have a preference on the defensive side where I play.”

Between his offseason workouts and running track, posting an 11.5 in the 100, Pouncey also played 7-on-7 ball with South Florida Express.

“It was good,” Pouncey stated. “I joined South Florida Express learning a lot. They are older and have a lot of experience. I was learning from them.”

Pouncey continued, “I was seeing new techniques and different ways to do things.”

The Winter Park campus has played host to D-I programs coming by to scout Pouncey.

“UCF has been out to a practice,” Pouncey said. “WKU (Western Kentucky) came out, Florida State, Oregon State, Illinois, and Indiana all came out.”

The Seminoles welcomed Pouncey and his 7-on-7 teammates to campus this spring.

“I went to Florida State, Georgia, and Texas A&M with South Florida Express,” Pouncey stated.

More information on the time in Tallahassee was given.

“I loved FSU,” Pouncey shared. “I have been waiting on that offer. I want to go back up there to see what it was like. I have been there just once.”

While checking on FSU’s facilities, he got to speak with some of the coaches.

“I talked to coach Rat (Keiwan Ratliff) and coach (Adam) Fuller, their DC,” Pouncey shared. “He asked what I have been doing this offseason and asked me about my height and weight.”

Coaches at UCF and South Florida will get to see Pouncey and his teammates this summer competing at 7-on-7 events held by both programs.

The teams to offer Pouncey includes Tulane, Florida Atlantic, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, Pitt, Connecticut, and Purdue.
