The freshman season debut for Noah Grubbs was attention grabbing. Lake Mary High School put the ball in Grubb’s (6-4, 215) hands watching him navigate through 4M Florida squads to an 8-4 record. Nearly 1,600 passing yards and 17 touchdowns later, Grubbs has five offers with offensive coordinators standing on the Rams’ sidelines this spring to watch him throw.
Executing a Spread offense, Grubbs spoke about his fit in the scheme.
“With the arm talent I have and my footwork, I get the ball out quick,” Grubbs said. “With the guys we have, there are opportunities in the offense to show off my arm talent.”
Getting extra work in with QB coach Baylin Trujillo, Grubbs covered what he is fine tuning this offseason.
“I am working on faster feet, my reads – reading safeties and DBs, RPOs (run-pass option), reading the Mike and Will backers, scanning the defense up and down, and my footwork.”
Holding offers from UAB, UNC-Charlotte, Virginia Tech, UCF, and Texas A&M, Grubbs was asked what college coaches are telling him they like about his QB skills.
“They like how I see and visualize the game, and they like my arm talent,” Grubbs stated. “At UCF, they said they like my arm talent and footwork.”
Spring practices are ramping up in the Sunshine State, there’s already been a healthy list of college scouts watching Grubbs spin it.
“So far UNC, coach Chip Lindsey, has come by, Liberty, Tulane, EKU (Eastern Kentucky), USF (South Florida), and Vanderbilt,” Grubbs said.
The relationship between Tar Heels’ offensive coordinator/QB coach Chip Lindsey and Grubbs was detailed.
“Coach Chip Lindsey and I, we’ve been talking for about a month,” Grubbs shared. “We are comfortable talking with one another. I call him about once a week. I am comfortable with him, and he is comfortable with me. We have a good friendship and a bond with one another.”
Grubbs is planning to spin it at about a dozen college camps this summer.
“This summer, so far I have planned South Carolina, Duke, UNC, Florida, UCF, FSU, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Pitt, Wake Forest, Alabama, Penn State, and Virginia Tech.”
