A big decision was made a year ago, and that resolution sprung Ziyare Addison into the forefront of the college football recruiting world. One year into playing offensive tackle, Addison (6-5, 275) is already considered one of the best at his position in the 2025 class with enormous upside that has brought 19 offers to the party.
Working over Florida teams for Sumner High School (Riverview), offers and camp invites went out in a hurry with all wanting to see Addison’s skills in person.
The college camp circuit was discussed by Addison, “I went to USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Auburn.”
Addison continued, “At all the schools I feel that I performed well. The ones that pulled the trigger were Oklahoma, UCLA and Auburn.”
Asked what he showcased at the camps, Addison replied, “I showed my versatility at the camps, how athletic I am, how I use my long arms, and I showed that I am one of if not the most athletic offensive lineman in the country.”
With UCLA and USC making the jump to the Big Ten, a growing trend is seeing more east coast players making that cross-country trip.
“I am happy to go to any school in the country that fits my needs,” Addison stated. “I went to UCLA and USC to get more exposure, and I have family out there. The consideration of me going to California for school is a probability.”
To prepare for the camps and his upcoming junior season, the Sunshine State product expounded on his offseason workouts.
“I have been focused on being bigger, faster, stronger, and more technically sound,” Addison shared. “Originally I was a defensive end, but last year I switched to offensive tackle This is my second year playing tackle.”
The dedication to the game continues over into the weight room.
“My bench went from 275 to 335, my squat went from 405 to over 500 pounds, and I am now up to 295 on my power clean,” Addison said.
In addition to the camps, UCLA, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Miami hosted Addison on visits. There are strong ties between Addison and Tuscaloosa. Cousin Chris Rogers was on Alabama’s 2009 championship team.
“The Alabama visit went really well,” Addison shared. “They haven’t pulled the trigger yet, coach Nick Saban said he needs to see my tape from this season. I have a good connection with the University of Alabama. It went really well.”
The Sooners made their mark on Addison while he was in Norman.
“That went really well,” Addison stated. “I got to see all that they have to offer, and how my skillset fits their system.”
The hours in Coral Gables were well spent in Addison’s opinion.
“It went really well to say the least,” Addison said. “I have a great relationship early on in the process with Miami’s coaches. While I was there, there were little details and techniques I was given I am trying to take in for the upcoming season. We went to the pool, I was there for a cookout, and I took pics with my cousin.”
College programs started reaching out to ’25 prospects on Aug. 1, Addison had a tsunami of communication coming his way.
“There has been a lot of coaches reaching out since they opened up everything,” Addison shared. “My phone has gone crazy. The schools have been UCLA, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Auburn, FSU, and Miami – there’s been a lot of schools.”
A fall visit schedule has not been put together yet, but the four-star has three programs on his list he wants to see.
“I am uncertain where I will go, but the schools that I am looking forward to visiting are Clemson, LSU, and Oregon,” Addison stated. “Those three I am looking forward to going to.”
If the athletic talents on the gridiron were not enough, Addison wrestled for the first time during his sophomore year and ran track posting a 12.8 in the 100 and a 25.7 in the 200.
