VENICE, Fla. – Pound for pound, Jamarice Wilder is one of the top backs in the Sunshine State representing the 2025 class. His Venice High School squad took on some of the best teams in the state of Florida, Northwestern, Naples, Riverview Sarasota, Buchholz, and Lakeland, and added national powerhouse St. Frances Academy (Md.) to their schedule, helping prove his worth. Through all the tough teams on the run to another Florida state championship berth, Wilder (5-9, 183) was a playmaker for the Indians.
The wheels and skills that averaged 6.3 yards per carry last season have been rewarded with offers from Central Michigan, Florida International, North Carolina A&T, South Florida, UCF, and West Virginia. The scholarship opportunities began when the Mountaineers got onboard in early May, and now teams like Tennessee and Florida State are showing interest.
Asked what the Seminoles and Volunteers are wanting to see before extending their offer, Wilder replied, “FSU wanted me to come to a camp, Friday Night Lights, but I couldn’t make it; I was at Central Michigan on a visit. After Central Michigan offered, Tennessee gave me a call wanting me to come up for a private workout.”
On the college camp front, Wilder attended two this summer being rewarded for his performance.
“I have only been to two, Central Michigan and Michigan State,” Wilder stated.
Asked how he performed at the camps, Wilder simply stated, “Great.”
A trip out west to Pac-12 country is up next.
“I am going to Colorado on the 25th,” Wilder shared.
The three-star tailback is ready to learn more about the Buffaloes’ offensive scheme.
“I am very excited,” Wilder said. “I want to learn more about their program to see how I would fit in and to see how they take care of their running backs. I want to see if that would be a nice fit for me.”
A fall visit to Tallahassee is in the works for Wilder.
“I do want to visit FSU,” Wilder stated.
Wilder continued, “We have a strong relationship. I have always been a Seminole since I was a younger kid. I’ve always played on Seminole teams; my youth league team was called the Sarasota Seminoles. I’ve always wanted to be a Seminole since I was little.”
The Indians had a two-headed monster coming out of the backfield last season, one that will be replicated again this fall, in Wilder and Alvin Johnson. Wilder toted the pigskin 142 times covering 898 yards with a team-high 12 rushing scores and secured seven passes for 78 yards with another touchdown. Teams avoided kicking to him, but he did take back two for 87 yards.
