Damarea Crockett interview after Arkansas Razorbacks camp
Recruiting for Little Rock Christian running back Damarea Crockett has heated up since the 2014 season concluded. After Crockett had rushed for 1,250 rushing yards with 16 touchdowns and then posted another 250 receiving yards with an additional three touchdowns only Memphis had extended an offer.
But now Crockett’s recruiting has hit a fever pitch with Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, Colorado State, Boise State, Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Army, Navy, and most recently University of Louisiana-Monroe each extending offers totaling 11 in all. More scholarship offers are sure to come with teams like Auburn, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, and Ole Miss all showing interest.
The big offer that has not come yet is from in-state power Arkansas. The Razorbacks had Crockett on campus yesterday for one of their camps getting to evaluate the 5’11”, 205 pound, talent in person, and he did not disappoint.
In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview I sat down with Damarea to go over how his camp with the Hogs went and got caught up a little bit on his latest recruiting news.
Damarea, how did the camp go yesterday with the Razorbacks?
“Everything was good. I feel like I legitimized myself with the agility drills and the one-on-ones. Overall it was pretty good camp.”
Did you run a 40-yard dash at the camp and if so what time did you post?
“Yes I did. I ran a 4.45.”
Did you post any other times in any other runs?
“The 40 was all they told me.”
When the camp was over how was everything left between you and the Arkansas coaching staff?
“It was good. They told me that I did really good at the camp and they’d look over the camp film and call me in a couple of days.”
What is your takeaway from that interaction? Do you think an offer is coming from the Razorbacks?
“I really don’t know. I feel like they will. I feel like when they see it on film. I posted the times and went up there to do what I was supposed to do. So now I just have to sit back and be patient.”
What were some of the highlights of the camp for you overall?
“My day was definitely good. I was happy with the 40 I ran. That was the main highlight of the day.”
What camp is up next for you?
“I’m supposed to go to the Arkansas State camp on Monday because they’re having a camp in Little Rock. After that I don’t know.”
You have 11 offers in total with a lot of schools showing interest, do you have any new schools showing interest?
“ULM (Louisiana-Monroe) was the latest school to offer. Purdue is the newest school showing the most interest.”
Do you plan to try to visit Purdue or ULM this summer now that they are in the picture?
“I don’t know yet. That’s way down the road.”
What is the update on The Opening?
“I head about the opening next week. This weekend is the last camp and I’m still within the Top 10 highest SPARQ score. So that’s looking pretty good right now.”
I hope you get that invite.
“Yes sir. Thank you.”
