Sometimes on the gridiron players just need that extra chance to shine. Out of Paetow High School (Katy) in Texas, Daqualyn Lott is one of those players. Gifted enough to secure six offers, the stat sheet allows college programs to overlook Lott (5-11, 170) but that would be a mistake.
The Class of 2025 prospect took advantage of every opportunity that came his way during his senior year bringing down 15 passes for 206 yards with two touchdowns.
“We ran a lot of 21-personnel, also did some 10- and 11-personnel,” Lott stated. “I was running a mix between hitches, simple routes, and when we were going long, posts, corners, and comebacks.”
Asked what he does well on the field, Lott replied, “My yards after the catch is my best thing; my YAC. Once I catch the ball, I can make someone miss. That was my thing, I always make the first person miss. My hands as well; I think I only dropped one pass all season.”
When landing the six offers, college coaches are telling Lott they appreciate some of the same attributes to the game, “They say they like me because of what I do when the ball is in my hands. They can see my film, I make incredible catches. They like my passion and my feel for the game. My YAC, they like my YAC, and the way I catch the ball.”
Some of the offering programs includes Texas College, Texas Wesleyan University, St. Mary’s, the Roseville Lions, and Savannah Prep. Interest is still coming to Lott from teams like Ottawa University, Staten Island, and GAC.
Lott carries a 3.6 GPA and will compete for the Panthers’ track team this spring running the 400, 4×4, and possibly the 200.
