KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Division I teams arriving late to the party on Nehemiah Chandler have a lot of catching up to do. The do-all athlete spent his junior season at Munroe High School (Quincy, Fla.) impressing with his skills on both sides of the ball. Next level scouts see Chandler (6-2, 165) as a cornerback, a position they will be able to pick back up with him this fall at Wakulla High School (Crawfordville). When they do, there is a trio of schools pushing out in front.
Once the spring open period began, Chandler made stops at UCF and South Florida. The Knights impressed leading to multiple trips to Orlando.
“It went great,” Chandler said. “I’ve taken like three visits there. They love my family and my family loves the school. Coach Addison (Williams – DC), coach (Charles) Moore (DA), coach (Clayton) Geathers (dir. personnel), and coach (Darin) Hinshaw (OC), and coach Gus (Malzahn) – all of them are like family to me now. They are No. 1 on my recruiting board.”
The Knights being atop Chandler’s personal board has them in line for an official visit.
“The teams I will officially visit are UCF, Georgia Tech, and USF,” Chandler shared.
The successful visit in Tampa has the Bulls on Chandler’s map.
“I just like the school, the campus, and the surroundings,” Chandler stated. “I just want to take an official visit there so I can really get down to it and learn more about the school.”
The draw to head up to Atlanta is coming from within the family. Chandler explained how the Yellow Jackets got on the list.
“Academics, my mom is big on academics,” Chandler said. “She told me to take that one. I like the program and the school.”
A handful of teams could influence Chandler’s recruitment in the future with Tennessee, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Kennesaw State, and Georgia showing interest.
