Releases, speed, hands, athleticism – was speed mentioned? Norland High School (Miami) receiver Isaiah Scott is the full package on the outside. The 2024 receiver blistered the opposition for 951 receiving yards off just 41 receptions putting 10 scores up on the big board. For all that Scott (5-10, 180) does for the Vikings, he is one of the more overlooked players in the country.
Norland pushes the narrative on offense thanks to playmakers like Scott on the roster.
“We run an up-tempo offense,” Scott said. “We get the defense on their heels, and we come in fast.”
The Vikings can send Scott deep, let him find the hole in the defense, and everything else in between.
“I run a lot of different routes,” Scott stated. “They have me going deep, short routes, and screens; it is a mixture of everything.”
The offseason has been about hitting his senior campaign at his peak.
“I have been working on getting in and out of my breaks, making my routes crispier, and on different releases to give DBs different looks,” Scott shared.
Ole Miss dropped Scott’s first offer, the rest of the teams to extend scholarship opportunities came after Scott’s first-team All-State season: Charlotte, Florida International, Jacksonville State, and Massachusetts.
Taking his talents on the college camp circuit helped Scott jump on more recruiting boards.
“I camped at Jacksonville State, App State, and Coastal Carolina, and I went to 7-on-7 camps (FAU and Miami) with my team,” Scott said.
With each opportunity to shine, Scott lived up to the moment.
“I did great at all three camps,” Scott shared. “I was proud of myself. The best camp for me was Coastal Carolina. I was getting past people, ran good routes, and I was catching difficult passes. I feel that was my best one.”
Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina are among the teams that will be watching Scott this fall. Meantime, the Minutemen are working on getting Scott up for an official.
“I have been talking about an official to UMass,” Scott stated. “We are still working on everything.”
The bond between Scott and the UMass coaching staff is growing.
“It is a great relationship,” Scott said. “I talk to their offensive coordinator, coach (Steve) Casula (QB), and their receivers coach, coach (Matt) Zanellato. We text back and forth. We’ve been building a bond with each other.”
FIU is another team impacting Scott’s recruitment.
“They have been heavily getting me involved with the team,” Scott shared. “Our relationship is great. I have been to their school, watched them practice and scrimmages. I’m going to a BBQ with the team at the end of this month.”
