The viewpoint from a college coaching staff’s perspective, the recruiting battle for Jaime Ffrench (6-2, 180) will continue, but from the 2025 receiver’s angle, he is done. The four-star Mandarin High School (Jacksonville, Fla.) talent took his 35-plus offers narrowing down to Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State with the Crimson Tide coming out on top Saturday afternoon.
Repeated trips to Tuscaloosa let Ffrench know Alabama was the place for him.
“I visited, and I kept going back,” Ffrench said. “I went back for a camp, and I got a feel for coach (Holmon) Wiggins (WR). When I visited again for the fourth time, it was just something about it. The way they were showing love, asking my coach questions about me, and coming by my school, I felt that bond. I felt it was the right move, so I shut down my recruitment. What they are building there will be special.”
The early summer trip to Alabama helped put the Crimson Tide over the top.
“My last visit, last month on June 7, the last time I visited, they showed me more stuff. I hung out with coach (Nick) Saban, coach (Tommy) Rees (OC/QB), and coach Wiggins, I got the family vibe. I wanted to be somewhere that made me feel that way, so I made the move.”
Alabama has a plan for Ffrench already, and top talent surrounding him.
“They will have me on the outside, where Jerry Jeudy played, and they will have (2025 WR) Ryan Williams on the inside,” Ffrench stated. “Knowing who will be the guys on the roster, me coming in and working, and knowing they know how they will use me deep and downfield, that matters.”
Behind the scenes, Ffrench had set the wheels in motion for his public commitment.
“On June 9, we were on the phone, I told them I was thinking heavily about committing,” Ffrench said. “I visited other schools but the feeling with Alabama stuck with me. FSU, them having my quarterback (Tramell Jones Jr.) and them being up the road, and they were pulling hard, made it tough. But I prayed on it, and I went with Alabama. At this point, it was just time to announce it.”
Ffrench continued, “I was telling them I am locked in and that I am taking other visits, but still letting them know that I am locked in; he said that is fine. I planned the July 29 visit, but they already know. Coach Wiggins and I talked last week, I told him that I am still leaning heavy on Alabama.”
On committing to Alabama, Ffrench shared, “It is a blessing. I came a long way; I’ve been playing since I was five years old. I am on the path that I set for myself; the dream is lining up. One day I will be where my dream is.”
