On the fast track to being one of the top-rated players in the 2026 class, Noah Grubbs is giving scouts all they want and more in the early goings of the new high school football season. Grubbs (6-4, 205) is well liked at the collegiate level holding 11 offers, and his opening season record setting performance with Lake Mary (Fla.) is only enhancing his status.
Dr. Phillips got into a shootout with the one player equipped to handle the challenge. Asked what it was like going back and forth trading scoring blows in the 76-60 win over Dr. Phillips, Grubbs replied, “We had a good game plan. They had a lot of coverages, but we knew if we went with a fast tempo we’d keep them on their heels the whole game.”
On his personal performance, Grubbs added, “I did pretty well, but you can always do better; I threw for 528 yards and eight touchdowns. I can tell the differences in defenses and coverages. I was picking through their Cover 1, 2, 3, and 4 throughout the game.”
The passing yards and passing touchdowns were single game Lake Mary school records.
Grubbs is well on his way to his personal season goals.
“I want to get in the 2,500 passing yards area with around 40 touchdowns, and lead my team to a state championship,” Grubbs stated.
On the recruiting front, action is popping.
“Florida, Nebraska, Auburn, Ole Miss, FSU, and North Carolina are showing interest,” Grubbs shared.
The summer camp circuit Grubbs took on to help put his name atop college boards is impressive.
“My first camp was at Georgia, then I went to Clemson, South Carolina, Duke, UNC, FSU, Auburn, UF (Florida), UCF, Notre Dame, LSU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Alabama, and Penn State,” Grubbs said. “Right after Penn State, I went to Michigan.”
Pointers and tips were picked up along the way helping Grubbs grow as a QB.
“A lot of the coaches help you understand the defenses,” Grubbs stated. “They also help you with different types of throws, different types of RPOs (run-pass option) and reads. At Michigan, they had us doing a bunch under center. I used to go under center but stopped in high school. That helped out a lot doing that again at Michigan.”
One visit separate from the camps was taken to Miami.
“It went really well,” Grubbs said. “I have a great relationship with coach (Shannon) Dawson (OC/QB). He is a fantastic coach. He knows what he is talking about; we did a film session. It was good down in Miami for sure.”
Strong bonds are already being built with coaching staffs.
“I am in regular contact with Virginia Tech,” Grubbs shared. “I am always on the phone with coach (Brian) Crist (SA). I have a good relationship with coach Crist and a good relationship with coach (Tyler) Bowen (OC/QB). Coach (Darin) Hinshaw at UCF (OC/QB) and I have a good relationship. I stay in contact with most of the offering schools because I feel the offers won’t last if you don’t stay in contact.”
Another round of visits is in the planning stages.
“Right now, I am confirmed to Virginia Tech verses Old Dominion on Sept. 2,” Grubbs stated. “After that I am going to Florida for their game against Tennessee on Sept. 16, and then on Sept. 23, I will be at Notre Dame for their game against Ohio State.
“On Sept. 30, I am going to see Baylor verses UCF. After that, I am going to the Virginia Tech verses FSU game on Oct. 7, back to UCF for their game against West Virginia on Oct. 28, and then I am going to FSU for their game against Miami on Nov. 11. I am also going to Miami’s game against Louisville on Nov. 18 and Michigan’s game against Ohio State on Nov. 25.”
