The breakthrough freshman season performance for Will Griffin (6-3, 225) has the world of college football recruiting excited. The 2026 talent spun it well for Tampa’s Jesuit High School (Fla.) collecting five offers for his efforts thus far. The summer days are about showcasing the skills at camps and building bonds with top next level coaches.
Running a pro-style offense with some run-pass option mixed in, Griffin has been putting in extra time this offseason on his game.
“I’ve been working on my strength, speed, accuracy, and my mental game,” Griffin said.
Outside of reps with the Tigers, Griffin has worked with former NFL QB Jeff Carlson on his technique.
“Jeff Carlson, he’s amazing,” Griffin stated. “He helps me all the time. With coach Carlson, I have been working on my accuracy, footwork, and moving my lower body to become a great QB. We talk about defenses, break down coverages, and what my reads are as well.”
Scholarship opportunities have been handed over by Florida State, Toledo, Pitt, Miami, and Florida with Georgia, Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and others showing interest. Visits were taken this spring to develop bonds with different coaching staffs.
“I went to Georgia for their G-Day, that was amazing,” Griffin shared. “I also went to the Florida Orange and Blue Game, that was cool too. This spring I was also at FSU and Miami.”
The month of June has already been busy.
“I have been to Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, and Georgia, and I am heading to Auburn next,” Griffin stated.
Details to the four visits were given by Griffin.
Alabama: “It was fantastic. Coach (Nick) Saban and coach (Tommy) Rees (OC/QB) loved how I performed; I met with them after practice. That was truly special talking to one of the greatest coaches of all time.”
Tennessee: “It was great. I loved their campus a lot. Knoxville is a beautiful place, and a great atmosphere for football. Coach (Josh) Heupel is a great guy. He is doing great things with the program.”
Clemson: “Clemson was great also. Coach (Dabo) Swinney was fantastic. He has a great mentality. Their facilities are off the charts right there with Bama, Georgia, and Tennessee; they were all amazing. I really like coach (Garrett) Riley, their QB coach. He is an amazing guy.”
Georgia: “That was very special for me because I had a one-on-one private workout with coach (Mike) Bobo (OC), coach (Brandon) Streeter, and coach Kirby Smart. That was amazing. I had never experienced that before. I am grateful for the opportunity to show them what I can do.”
Griffin spoke about the throwing session with the Bulldogs, “It was an hour long. They took me through drills, footwork, lower body movement, accuracy, precision, consistency, and the deep ball. Everything was valuable. It was amazing. It was also unique. That was the first practice with the team back. I saw (LB) Troy Bowles there; he went to Jesuit. I got to see the players.”
Griffin continued, “I feel like I did great. I feel that I threw really well. Going in, I knew I had to throw well. I am sure they had high expectations for me. I can’t wait to get back up there again.”
After competing at Auburn’s camp on Monday, the long list of showcase opportunities continues: USC June 10, Michigan June 14, Ohio State June 15, LSU June 17, Florida Gators’ Friday Night Lights, and a yet to be set camp with Florida State.
