Amer Ellis has jolted Plantation to a 3-1 start in the 2022 season as the dual-threat quarterback is making plays in both the passing and running game. In the first four games of his senior season, Ellis has thrown for 744 yards and eight touchdowns while running for another 102 yards and two more scores on the ground.
The 6’2”, 200-pound, playmaker plays with great strength and toughness while possessing a good football IQ and footwork.
Ellis is working towards his goal of taking his team the state championship game and bringing home a trophy in his final season at Plantation High School.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Amer to talk about how his senior season is going so far.
Interview
Amer, what are your thoughts on your season so far?
I feel like we are going to the state championship. My team is looking pretty good as we are coming together.
What are your strengths on the football field?
I’m a dual-threat quarterback, so it’s hard for people to stop me when the ball is in my hand.
What kind of offensive scheme does your team?
We run a lot of play action under center.
How do your skills fit into this offense?
It fits in because when I’m not giving the ball I can also pass or run it. The defense has to pick which to stop the run or pass so I pick the other to keep the play alive.
Would you consider yourself a dual threat or pro style quarterback?
Definitely dual-threat.
Is there an NFL quarterback that you like to model your game after?
Michael Vick.
What game left on your schedule are you most looking forward to playing?
The game against Dillard High.
What are your goals for the rest of your senior season?
I want to put up amazing numbers, go to the championship game and then go to college.
Are you drawing interest from any colleges?
I’m still waiting sir.
Did you attend any college camps this past summer?
Florida International, Florida State and Central Florida.
What is your GPA?
2.8.
What is your SAT score?
830.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
Psalm 28:7.
Thank you for your time and good luck the rest of the season.
Thank you, sir.
