Recruiting block by recruiting block, the different pieces to Ricky Knights’ journey to the next level are coming together. Florida State and Miami have already locked in officials with the four-star prospect, now a third has been added.
The Benjamin School (North Palm Beach, Fla.) four-star 2024 cornerback/athlete has been busy this spring making stops at Florida Atlantic, South Florida, Miami, and Florida State.
The weekend visit with the Seminoles was covered.
“That experience was so much fun,” Knight said. “I hung out with the players after the spring game; that was cool to do. It showed me the possible life I could have if I choose FSU.”
Knight shared his post-visit thoughts on Florida State’s program.
“I’ve always been very interested in FSU, this visit gave me something extra to think about when choosing my schools,” Knight stated.
After seeing the Seminoles defense during their spring game, Knight gave, “Shutdown. Complete shutdown. They will be something crazy this year.”
Another in-state program hosted Knight for their spring game.
“Miami was cool,” Knight said. “I went to their spring game; it was competitive. (2023 DL) Ruben Bain went crazy with four sacks. Ray-Ray (Nathaniel Joseph) did his thing as well. It was great to see. Coach (Mario) Cristobal and I connected a little, and I also connected with the other coaches.”
More was provided on the conversation with Miami’s leader on the sidelines.
“He wants to coach me,” Knight shared. “He wants to be the guy to help develop me into the player I can be, and he said it doesn’t get any better than Miami.”
More ACC programs and two SEC heavyweights may see Knight in the coming weeks. The Georgia Bulldogs will host Knight this weekend.
“Georgia, Alabama, Wake Forest, Illinois, Louisville, and I will probably visit some others,” Knight stated. “I have to get a schedule down.”
The enthusiasm for visiting the Bulldogs was shared, “I am very excited. I have heard a lot of good things. The campus is huge. They have city buses taking kids around the school.”
The relationship between Knight and the Bulldogs’ staff is still developing. On this visit, he wants to further develop that bond.
“There’s nothing specifically I want to do, I just want to get a feel for the school,” Knight said. “Our relationship hasn’t really sparked up, but it will start getting better after this visit.”
The two official visits set were confirmed, “I have two officials set in stone, I will be at FSU June 15-17 and at UM June 23-25.”
A third paid for trip has been added.
“June 2-4, I will be at Penn State,” Knight shared. “I will take other visits; I haven’t talked about it as much as far as setting a date.”
The Nittany Lions are receiving extra help recruiting Knight.
“Coach (Terry) Smith (CB) is a really cool guy,” Knight said. “I know coach Peter; he is from where my family is from. We have a lot in common. I know his nephew; he’s a cool guy. He’s like my little brother. He has told me a lot about Penn State, I am ready to go see it.”
Teams have extended 19 scholarship offers to Knight with Colorado, Alabama, Cincinnati, Virginia, Oregon State, and Georgia showing interest.
