Florida four-star DB Jordon Johnson-Rubell sets two officials, heading to Alabama next
Two official visits have been set and a top schools list is coming for Jordon Johnson-Rubell. The four-star out of Bradenton’s (Fla.) IMG Academy has been busy this offseason making the rounds with a heavy look at Big 12 and Big Ten squads. This week the do-all safety is making the trip to Tuscaloosa as his recruiting focus narrows.
Ten days into the new year, Johnson-Rubell dropped his list of favorites that included Oregon, Texas, TCU, USC, Oklahoma, Florida State, Arizona State, Alabama, Colorado, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and Penn State.
Last month, Johnson-Rubell visited Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, and TCU. The Crimson Tide are next on the schedule.
“I definitely want to see (2023) Des (Desmond) Ricks (CB) and how he likes it at Alabama,” Johnson-Rubell said. “I want to see how they do everything. Coach (Nick) Saban coaches DBs; that is a big thing. My DB coach from IMG is an assistant coach there; I want to see him and how everything rolls up there.”
After learning more about the Crimson Tide on April 15, Colorado will host Johnson-Rubell for their spring game on April 22. The elite defender spoke about his interest in visiting the Buffaloes.
“Coach Prime (Deion Sanders), and I played with his youth team in Dallas,” Johnson-Rubell stated. “Coach (Kevin) Mathis (CB) coached me at a young age; I am cool with his son (Kaleb). I want to see their facilities, learn more about the education program, and see how the whole school goes.”
Looking at the bigger picture, two paid for visits are locked in already.
“I have an official visit set with Texas June 23-25 and with Ohio State June 15-18,” Johnson-Rubell said.
Johnson-Rubell continued listing the possible contenders for his three other trips.
“Michigan, TCU, USC, and Alabama,” Johnson-Rubell stated.
Asked how he will separate the four schools down to three, Johnson-Rubell replied, “Who has the best relationship with me, that is important to me, their facilities, and the education offered compared to one another.”
Fans and coaches alike will soon find out where the four-star will be visiting.
“I am narrowing my list down this month or next to a top five,” Johnson-Rubell shared. “I will mostly likely commit before the football season.”
Johnson-Rubell has hinted previously that he may drop his top schools on or around his mom’s birthday, which is May 23. He stated, “I want to drop it before school ends (May 24) and before the summer. I will probably drop it around our spring game.”
Per other reports, Johnson-Rubell may have a tentative official visit date set with TCU June 2-3.
