Florida four-star DE Peter Pesansky covers OU and UNC visits, one official locked
The recruiting battle for four-star defender Peter Pesansky (6-3, 280) is far from over, and Power Five programs spanning the ACC, Big 12, and Big Ten are not letting up. The Tampa Jesuit (Fla.) standout still has interest coming in that could reshape his recruiting journey with one official visit locked.
College programs have extended 19 offers to the 2024 defensive end prospect with interest coming in from Florida State, Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Indiana, and Temple.
The list of teams making heavy contact was provided.
“Pitt, Oklahoma, UNC, Minnesota, Duke, Virginia, and Louisville, they are all hitting me up a lot,” Pesansky shared.
Back in March, Pesansky took two key visits.
“I got to visit UNC and OU,” Pesansky said. “It was great; both of them were. I am going back to UNC for their spring game.”
The time with the Tar Heels allowed Pesansky to create a strong rapport with defensive line coach Tim Cross and defensive coordinator Gene Chizik.
“When I went, I got to go to the Duke vs. UNC game,” Pesansky stated. “When we got there, I did the tours, went to the photo shoot, and had a meeting with coach Cross and coach Chizik; I really like both of them. The visit was great. They did a good job with everything, and the game was good. I had breakfast at coach (Mack) Brown’s house. It was good meeting with him as well.”
The opportunity to dine at a legendary coach’s house doesn’t happen every day. Pesansky spoke about that rare event, “It was pretty dang cool. They had a great set up. I ate with coach Cross as well.”
While in Norman, Pesansky received the full treatment from the Sooners.
“I got there late because our flight was delayed,” Pesansky said. “I missed practice; I got there two hours late. When I got there, it was at the end of practice. I saw coach (Ted) Roof (DC/LB) and (Todd) Bates (co-DC); their presentation was great.
“Everything was set up. I was in a smaller group, a main recruit group. There was a lot of one-on-one time with both of them. At the end of the day, I went to coach (Brent) Venables office. I had a long talk with him and coach Bates, and I talked with Bates after that. I went to breakfast with coach Bates the next day and then we watched film.”
Looking to the summer, only one visit is on the calendar.
“I have an official scheduled with UNC, June 15-17,” Pesansky shared.
Asked which schools are possible contenders for his other four visits, Pesansky replied, “For sure, Oklahoma, NC State, Pitt, or Minnesota. I don’t want to write them off before I see them.”
