Florida Lands 2017 Wyoming Seminary Prep DT Kyree Campbell

The Gators have had trouble keeping defensive tackles committed to their 2017 recruiting class. Thus far, three have decommitted, Fred Hansard (Princeton, NJ), Javier Edwards (Brenham, TX), and Jordon Scott (Largo, FL). On Saturday, Florida landed a defensive tackle from an unusual recruiting site, Wyoming Seminary Prep. Campbell looks like the building block up front that the Gators have been seeking.
All on the surface is not necessarily how it seems. Campbell is a former Woodbridge High School standout. The Virginia talent committed to North Carolina out of high school heading to Wyoming Seminary Prep (PA) in 2016.
The second time around, the 6-4, 320 pound, talent had offers from James Madison, Temple, and West Virginia. Campbell took a reported unofficial visit to Penn State on Nov. 5 but an official to Gainesville on Saturday set forth a new course. On Oct. 30, Campbell posted a list of schools he was considering that included Temple, Oregon, Michigan, Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Clemson, Maryland, and West Virginia.
Florida now has 14 verbal commitments to their 2017 class. 247Sports rates Florida’s 2017 class No. 20 in the nation, No. 8 overall in the SEC. Rivals ranks the class No. 24 with seven four-star recruits and six three-star prospects.
