Florida State’s 2016 recruiting class took a big hit on Tuesday when 5-star tight end Isaac Nauta announced he was decommitting from the Seminoles and reopening his recruiting.
FSU had to start worrying about their prized 6’4”, 237 pound, tight end when he started taking unofficial visits to teams like Georgia (twice), Texas, TCU, and LSU. Water cooler talk started up about a possible decommit from the IMG Academy star in mid-July after a visit to the Georgia Bulldogs.
The whispered rumors came true when Nauta made his announcement on Twitter posting, “I would like to thank all of the coaches at FSU and #NoleNation as well for everything, but I have decommitted to make sure that I make the best possible decision for my future in becoming a man and developing as a student-athlete. Thank you!”
Nauta is an U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitee with offers totaling in the neighborhood of 40. Some of the teams extending offers include Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, Cal, Michigan State, Michigan, Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State, Oklahoma, USC, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, and Stanford.
Seeing Nauta ended up at Georgia would not be a big surprise. Nauta garnered his national attention last season as a two-way player for Buford High School in Buford, Georgia before transferring to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior season.
