Frame, size, athleticism, long arms – you name it, Landon Wolny has it going for him. The 2027 state of Florida prospect spent his sophomore campaign with Fort Myers as that coveted hybrid H-back, tight end, and receiver… the result was six offers and serious early recruiting attention.

Collegiate offensive coordinators are always looking for the next Travis Kelce or Brock Bowers type that can create mismatches leaving defenses helpless. The Green Wave were able to utilize Wolny’s (6-4, 210) talents.

“We were in a Spread,” Wolny stated. “One of my greatest strengths is being versatile. I played tight end and receiver. They used me on the line for down blocking and for holes to be created for running backs, and we could run RPO (run-pass option) out of that. I was also at slot receiver getting go balls and hitches that turned into big plays.”

When the Friday night lights come on this fall, Wolny will be suiting up with Community School of Naples. The Seahawks will have similar packages to maximize the skills of their new offensive weapon.

“I will definitely be a hybrid guy this year,” Wolny said. “That is something coaches at the next level see me as; I will stick to the main role as a tight end. I am being recruited as that. I want to be versatile so that you can run anything with me, and I will always get the job done. I can go with a hand in the dirt or split out on the line; those are my specialties.”

Part of the offseason workout plan is running track, the 400, 4×4, and the occasional 4×4 hurdles, along with playing baseball. When it isn’t game time with the Seahawks, Wolny is working on his gridiron craft.

“This offseason I am working with my trainer, he played for the Bucs; we are working on separation,” Wolny shared. “That is my key. I am a receiver that plays tight end. I may not be the fastest, but if you can make separation like I do, that is the key. I am working on creating leverage; I have been doing that throughout my career so far. If you can turn a DBs hips, you can create separation.”

South Florida Express (SFE) is a powerhouse in the world of 7-on-7. The extra field time with SFE will help college scouts further evaluate Wolny. The teams that have offered already include Arkansas, Colorado, Colorado State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Utah.

“I have interest from FSU; I plan on going up there on Jan. 18,” Wolny said. “The tight ends coach who was at Colorado is now there; he extended an invite. I am hopeful that they offer. Miami, Auburn, and Texas Tech are showing interest. Those are the hottest ones messaging me and the teams wanting me at their camps.”

Asked about the upcoming trip to Tallahassee, Wolny replied, “I am super excited. I have met coach (Devin) Rispress a lot of times before. After getting MVP there this summer, he’s been reaching out and expressing his gratitude and wanting me to be a Buff. Now he wants me to be a Seminole. He’s a great guy, passionate, and he knows how to recruit for sure.”

Wolny got out during the 2024 college football regular season as well.

“I went to Florida, Colorado, and Utah; I loved them all,” Wolny stated. “All were great places to be, and each one has their different niche about them. Overall, each visit was a great experience.”

While at Fort Myers, the head Hurricane came to see the 2027 talent.

“Last season, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal came over,” Wolny said. “He said he loves my game and wants me at a camp. I will go there this summer. This spring is key for me going into my junior year, I plan on seeing a lot of coaches.”

SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12 trips could happen this spring.

“I will visit FSU on Jan. 18, and then hopefully I will be up at Mizzou for a Junior Day,” Wolny shared. “TCU is another one. In the future, I want to visit Penn State and Ohio State.”
