Florida State Trustees approve $79.5M Doak Campbell Stadium upgrade
Almost every Power Five Conference football team has expectations of the world placed upon the shoulders of the head coach, his staff, and the 80 scholarship players filling out a roster year after year to win at the highest level. Even though the expectations maybe high for most teams that will never come close to sniffing a national championship, one such program has a storied history of winning big games and now wants to make sure the home game experience grows with the product on the field.
On Monday Florida State’s Board of Trustees approved the issue of $85 million in bonds to pay for a budgeted $79.5 million project to upgrade Doak Campbell Stadium.
Among the upgrades includes an addition of 6,000 seats in the south end zone, structural repairs, updating the sky boxes, and painting the stadium.
After the completion of the 2014 season a previous $6 million plan to upgrade the stadium began. The new construction and additions will begin in July 2016.
