Former Razorbacks guard transferring to Iowa State

Freshman guard Nick Babb started the month of April by announcing he was transferring away from the Arkansas men’s basketball team. Ten days later the former Martin High School star announced is transfer school as Iowa State.

Babb’s move up north is not a big surprise, Nick’s older brother Chris played for head coach Fred Hoiberg in Ames. Chris, like Nick, started out at a different program before finding his way into a Cyclones uniform. Chris started out with Penn State playing from 2008 through 2010 before lacing up his high-tops for ISU from 2011 to 2013.

Chris has been back-and-forth between the Main Red Claws in the D-League and the Boston Celtics since leaving ISU.

Nick committed to Iowa State after visiting the campus this weekend taking one of four open scholarships the Cyclones have in the upcoming recruiting class.

Babb made his announcement official on Twitter posting, “I’m happy to inform everybody that I’m going to be an Iowa State Cyclone next year!”

Babb’s departure from Arkansas was left on good terms. Razorbacks’ head coach Mike Anderson spoke highly of Babb when the transfer was announced stating, “Nick is a good kid and has done everything right in his time with our program.” The split was reportedly over playing time.

Nick played in 26 games for the Hogs during the 2014-2015 season finishing the season with 19 points and 20 rebounds.
