Former Texas A&M WR LaQuvionte Gonzalez headed to Kansas

On Monday April 20, former Texas A&M wide receiver LaQuvionte Gonzalez announced on his Twitter account that he is leaving the program to pursue his college career at another school. Then last night one day after the Kansas Jayhawks annual spring game, Gonzalez announced on Twitter “I have decided to take my talent to the University of Kansas.”

The sophomore was a four-star recruit from Cedar Hill, Texas in the Class of 2013. New Jayhawks head coach David Beaty helped recruit Gonzalez to Texas A&M when Beaty served as the Aggies wide receivers coach from 2012-2014.

Due to transfer rules, Gonzalez won’t be able to help the Jayhawks offense until the 2016 season but will have two years of eligibility left.

The 5’10”, 165 pound, receiver caught 21 passes for 240 yards and had one touchdown as a freshman in 2013. Last year, the sophomore only caught five passes for 77 yards with one touchdown.

Gonzalez also spent time on special teams as he has fielded 11 kickoffs in his career with an average of 20.6 yards a return.

Coming out of high school, the star receiver reportedly posted a time of 4.56 seconds in the 40 yard dash and was named an Under Armour All-American. He had offers from all over the country including schools like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and Nebraska.

LaQuvionte Gonzalez looks to make a big impact when his number is called in the Jayhawks offense.
