Fun interview with St. Anthony Long Beach DL Curtis Weaver
St. Anthony High School’s Curtis Weaver has a very bright future ahead. The 6’4”, 265 pound, defensive lineman/defensive end is a force opposing California offenses have to account for play after play. Fighting off double-teams and chip shots from running backs, Curtis still came up with 52 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, 7 quarterback hurries, 4 pass deflections, and 2 fumble recoveries during his junior season. All of that and he sports a 3.35 cumulative GPA and is lining up for a 4.0 for this semester when the school year comes to an end.
Currently the Class of 2016 recruit has offers from Wisconsin, Washington State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Nevada, and Virginia with big programs like USC, Utah, Duke, Northwestern, Boston College, Washington, and Utah State showing interest. A busy one-day college camp circuit could see the total number of offers skyrocket in the coming weeks.
We quizzed Mr. Weaver on all things football in a previous interview (Part 1 and Part 2) but wanted to know more. In an ongoing Recruiting News Guru exclusive “getting to know you” interview series we attempted to find out more about the Long Beach, California talent.

Curtis, what is your favorite movie?
“Good question, I guess Coach Carter and Remember the Titans.”
Who is your favorite actor?
“I don’t have one. Oh wait, Will Ferrell or Kevin Hart or Ice Cube.”
What is your favorite TV show?
“SportsCenter.”
What is your favorite type of music?
“Rap, Hip-Hop, and R&B.”
Do you have a favorite musician?
“No sir.”
How about a favorite song?
“No, I can’t have a favorite song.”
What music do you listen to getting hyped for a game or a practice?
“For a game I’ll listen to Eminem, the Migos, and I like a lot of rappers from Chicago.”
What hobbies do you have outside of football?
“I play basketball and hang out with my friends a lot. I like to go out on vacations and hang out with my friends.”
Do you speak any foreign languages?
“Filipino.”
What is your favorite type of food?
“Filipino.”
Do you have a favorite game system?
“Xbox.”
What are your favorite Xbox games?
“2K or Madden, sometimes Mortal Kombat.”
What is your favorite subject in school?
“Math.”
Who is your favorite athlete?
“LaDainian Tomlinson, Kobe Bryant, or Michael Jordan.”
What is your favorite holiday?
“Christmas, it’s the best time of the year.”
If you could be a superhero which superhero would you be?
“That’s a good one. I’d go with Superman, with Flashes speed, and Ironman’s smartness.”
Do you have a favorite professional sports team?
“The Chargers and Lakers, keep it local.”
