Fun Q&A Interview with Topeka High School RB Mike McCoy
Written by Charlie Beuttel
Mike McCoy had a great junior season at running back for Topeka High School. The 6’2″, 215 pound, workhorse had 1,150 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Trojans in 2014.
McCoy’s junior season was filled with highlights including rushing for 200 yards and scoring four touchdowns against Manhattan. After the season, McCoy was selected All-State honorable mention and All-League.
The Class of 2016 recruit has interest from several big time schools including Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Arkansas. McCoy has seven Division-I offers at this time but the two programs showing the most interest are Kansas and Kansas State. The star running back has visited Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Kansas.
McCoy is leading a more experienced Topeka team in 2015 and has set goals of rushing for 2,000 yards with 30 touchdowns scored.
Last week, I sat down with Mike to talk about his junior year, his recruiting process, and his preparation for 2015 season. I also asked him some rapid fire questions to find out what the star running back is like off the football field.
