With Tylon Lee lining up on the right side of Pace High School’s (Pace, Fla.) defense, running or rolling the other way only delays the inevitable, Lee is going to get them. Possessing ideal size (6-5, 230) for an edge rusher/outside linebacker, Lee has the wingspan to get into the chest of offensive tackles with the twitch and motor to win on each play. On his way to four-star recruiting status, the 2025 defender has 23 offers on the table with another round of scholarship opportunities coming.
The Pace Patriot did not go easy on teams during his sophomore season compiling 88 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 24 QB hurries, and 3.5 sacks with three passes broken up.
Running in a 4-3 defense, Lee is not letting up in 2023, “I worked on being able to attack the ball harder, I worked on my get off, and run or pass when to sit and when to pass rush. I worked on all the small things that are big things.”
The Patriots started the new schedule on a high note taking down Choctawhatchee 41-17.
“Oh, the season started off fantastic,” Lee said. “We went against a great team, we won 41-17. Last year we won by one (31-30). They have a good running back, Cole Tabb. We held them to 86 or 85 yards; no more than 100 yards. Last year Cole had good yards on us and on a slippery field. We stopped them this Friday.”
Moving Lee around the box to keep offenses honest from middle linebacker to dropping him in the flats, five tackles, two tackles for a loss, and a half-sack was produced last week.
Another big game is on the schedule this week, “One of our biggest games is on Friday against Lincoln; Milton is our rival, but this is a big game. I’m ready to play, do my job, and go 2-0.”
Watching Lee terrorize defenses, the 23-offer list is about to expand.
“Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma, North Carolina, USC, and other schools are showing interest,” Lee shared. “They are waiting and watching. Some players can catch a coach’s eye and with other they are waiting to see if you are the same or if you are progressing.”
While some programs wait, others are wasting no time building relationships with Lee.
“Kansas Jayhawks, Troy, USF, Cincinnati, Florida, Virginia Tech, Mississippi, Tennessee, and FSU of course; we are right by FSU,” Lee stated.
The bond with the Seminoles’ staff is strong.
“Our relationship is outstanding,” Lee said. “Being there, that feels like home. I can talk to them. They check up on me 24-7. They are keeping in touch with me making sure everything is going good for me with football and outside of football.”
The Seminoles got Lee on campus twice over the summer in a camp setting, so did some SEC teams.
“I went to Nick Saban (Alabama), Kirby Smart (Georgia), Troy, South Alabama’s mega camp, FSU’s Elite camp and their regular camp, and I went to a South Carolina camp,” Lee stated.
Additional summer trips were taken to Duke, Charlotte, NC State, and East Carolina. The fall travel schedule is loading up.
“I have Mississippi State coming up this weekend (vs. Southeastern Louisiana), then I am going to Florida State on Sept. 9 (Southern Miss), Florida on Sept. 16 (Tennessee), and a Tennessee game in late November (Georgia or Vanderbilt),” Lee shared. “I want to go to a Cincinnati game too; I have to get that one in my schedule.”
Previewing the weekend trip to Starkville, Lee shared, “Mississippi State, they get after it. Their d-line coach, coach (David) Turner, he is old school. I like how he coaches. He is all about the grind. He motivates and pushes his players. Coach Turner has been there; he is setting the example. I have a really good connection with him.”
The atmosphere in The Swamp leaves Lee at a loss for words.
“I love their environment,” Lee said. “I love how they get after it; it is unexplainable. I like it. The Swamp is something else. It is live there. I have a good connection with their coaches.”
Heading to Knoxville will be a learning experience for the current three-star prospect.
“I haven’t been to their campus yet, but they are touching base with me,” Lee stated. “They are checking in on me. They are communicating, reaching out, and showing love.”
