Georgia 2024 three-star DB Christian Peterson covers Top 8
With 30-plus offers to choose from, the process of narrowing down the list for Christian Peterson was not easy. The Westlake High School standout out of Atlanta had a busy spring visiting Auburn, UCF, North Carolina, and Texas A&M helping influence his list of favorites.
Peterson’s top eight in no order: Auburn, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, UCF, Mississippi State, Georgia Tech, and Louisville.
The highly coveted 2024 three-star prospect gave insight on each program sharing why they made his top schools list.
THE BREAKDOWN
Auburn: “That is back home from home for me, I am from Bama. Coach Hugh Freeze is doing special things there. Auburn also made the list because of the relationship I have with coach (Zac) Etheridge (DB) and coach (Wesley) McGriff (CB).”
Texas A&M: “Coach Jimbo Fisher is a competitor. He pushes his guys to be best each day. I have a good relationship with coach (Rohan) Gaines (GA) and (DJ) Durkins (DC). Coach Gaines has kept up with me since I was in middle school.”
Virginia Tech: “Virginia Tech made the list because of the relationship with coach (Derek) Jones (CB). I have built up a good one with him. He is hard on his DBs, but only to make them better in the long run.”
North Carolina: “I chose UNC because I have good relationship with coach (Mack) Brown; he is a legend. Coach Brown is doing good things there. Coach (Charlton) Warren (DB) has a great background. At UNC, there is a chance to play early. The education you get there that will help you in the long run.”
UCF: “I really look at them as family because of the relationship I have with coach Addison (Williams – DC). We’ve been locked in for a minute. Playing 7-on-7 with Cam’s (Newton) team, coach Williams and him grew up together. Coach (Gus) Malzhan and I have a good relationship. He is doing special things in Orlando.”
Mississippi State: “Coach (Brett) Dewhurst (DB) and I have built a good relationship; he is my dog. We talk every other day if not every day. He is doing good things with his DBs. And coach Mike Leach, I had a good relationship with him before he passed away.”
Georgia Tech: “Coach (Travares) Tillman (DB) and (Andrew) Thacker (DC) are doing special things up there at Tech. They are turning the program around. Even in the little time under coach (Brent) Key, they have turned it around. I feel that they are doing special things there. That school will also prepare you for life after football.”
Louisville: “Their defensive coordinator, coach (Ron) English, he loves me. He feels that I am a big piece in their secondary. Coach (Chris) Barclay and I, we chat every other day if not every day. He wants me up there bad. He is trying to get me. At Louisville there is a chance to start early.”
With eight schools on the list and only five official visits recruits can take, another big decision is coming up. Peterson shared three likely official visit spots.
“I don’t have any dates set yet, but I have three in mind, A&M, UNC, and Auburn,” Peterson said.
