The four-star recruiting status for CJ Wiley (6-4, 198) is firmly in place with a move up the rankings in line after a standout junior campaign. The Class of 2025 receiver toasted 7A Georgia defenses all season and is ready to compile more numbers in the stat column as Milton High School (8-2) heads to the playoffs.
The stats on the season to date speak volumes.
“The season, it is going good right now,” Wiley said. “I am leading my team in receiving yards, I think I have 40 catches for 900-plus yards with nine touchdowns.”
Citing ball skills, route running, and speed as his biggest improvements this season, Wiley spoke about his top performance this year.
“Probably the West Forsyth game, because when you turn the film on you will see my explosiveness, my speed, and good routes,” Wiley stated.
Holding 25 offers, all the teams hoping to sign him next year are giving Wiley the same kind of feedback off his game film.
“Most coaches that have offered me are saying to keep up the good work,” Wiley shared. “They are telling me to go week by week, and to get better each week.”
A handful of teams have hosted Wiley on Saturdays this fall.
“I have been to Florida State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Tennessee, and Michigan,” Wiley said.
The Big Ten energy caught Wiley’s attention.
“The atmosphere at Michigan was good,” Wiley shared. “Their lights, they use blue and yellow. It was a night game; they were lighting it up.”
Wiley continued sharing his thoughts on the Michigan experience, “It was big. Their weight room was very nice. The stadium was cool and big.”
The Seminoles’ fanbase impressed Wiley.
“It was good,” Wiley stated. “The atmosphere was great. It was loud. There were a lot of fans there.”
Wiley got some one-on-one time with FSU’s coaches.
“They said to keep up the good work, and they told me we like what we see on film,” Wiley said.
The Oct. 28 trip to Atlanta was memorable.
“It was good,” Wiley shared. “They got the upset; they beat UNC. It was homecoming, there were a lot of people there.”
On seeing the Yellow Jackets take down the Tar Heels 46-42, Wiley stated, “It was good. The offense moved the ball. Two of their receivers played a big role in the offense. They got a turnover at the end to seal the win.”
The defending national champs got Wiley in Athens twice.
“The visits to Georgia were good,” Wiley said. “I went to one of their first ones, I went on Sept. 2 for the UT-Martin game, and I was there on Oct. 7 for the Kentucky game.”
Watching the Bulldogs take down the Wildcats 51-13, Wiley shared, “The offense was fast paced. They threw to the tight end a lot, and they threw to their receivers. Their special teams play a big role on their team.”
For now, no other game-day visits are on Wiley’s schedule. The Eagles start their playoff run on Nov. 10 with a home game against Duluth.
