The college football recruiting world was in shock on Sept. 24 when Ny Carr decommitted from the University of Georgia. The local product out of Colquitt County verbally committed to the Bulldogs on July 5, 2022, taking an official to Athens on June 2 with a game-day stop eight days prior to his change in recruiting status. With all options back on the table, the four-star 2024 receiver is setting official and game-day visits.
In the neighborhood of 30 offers, four teams are putting in the extra effort to land Carr.
“The teams reaching out the most are Colorado, of course Miami, Tennessee, and Auburn,” Carr stated.
The fall travel plans were updated.
“I’ve been to Auburn and Georgia,” Carr said. “I am headed to Miami this weekend. After that, I am going to a game at Penn State, then FSU again, and Colorado as well.”
The time on The Plains was covered.
“It was good,” Carr shared. “They had a good atmosphere, I enjoyed myself. It was a good game. I got to talk with mainly all the coaches, especially coach (Marcus) Davis (WR). We had a good conversation; I hadn’t been there in a minute.
“Coach (Hugh) Freeze, he was telling me the impact I could make going there. Those were the main two coaches I was talking to, and it was really them talking to me about coming in and changing the program.”
On the regular interactions with Auburn’s staff, Carr shared, “We have a good relationship, and as far as staying in contact, we are reaching out to each other.”
Destinations on two paid for trips are locked.
“I know I will officially visit Miami and Penn State,” Carr said. “Those are the only ones I have set.”
Carr spoke about his interest in the Hurricanes and Nittany Lions.
Miami: “I’m loving everything they are doing on offense. They are spreading the ball out among their receivers. I like what they are doing on offense, and they are winning. I like it.”
Penn State: “Penn State was really my first big time offer. Penn State stayed on me even when I was committed to Georgia. They have been with me for a long time; I have been locked in with them. They want me up there for a visit. “
They got a new receivers coach, but their assistant receivers coach, he has been there; I was his first offer. That was my first big time offer and his first time offering. We still talk to this day. They have been recruiting me hard and recruiting me well. I like what they are doing throwing the ball around; they have been doing that for years. I want to get up there to see what they have to offer.”
The Seminoles have impressed Carr with their play on the field this season.
“They are winning,” Carr said. “They are making big plays downfield with their receivers. I like how they mix it up with the receivers and their formations. They set their receivers up to make big plays.”
There is no understating the impact of Deion Sanders’ first season with the Buffaloes.
“Colorado, they are a tough team,” Carr stated. “I like what coach Deion is doing mindset wise. He has his players focused on the right things. He is teaching them about real life situations, and making sure they are growing into men while helping them learn how to handle business. I like what coach Sanders is doing with them, he is leading them in the right direction for the future.”
There are no plans for a top schools list, but a commitment could happen in the near future.
“I don’t have a commitment date, but it will be soon,” Carr shared. “Really soon. We only have about three months left; everything is moving fast. Wherever God leads me. If he says two months, that is what I will do. I have been praying about it. I am trying to get it down.”
