Good news travels at lightening speed along college football’s recruiting trail especially when a next level prospect is identified. Down in Miami, 2025 linebacker Qwincy Bonne-Annee put together a big season in the box attracting two offers and new recruiting interests. The gridiron productivity knocking ball carriers on their cans brought a game-day invite from the Georgia Bulldogs.
Roaming the box for Dr. Michael Krop High School, Bonne-Annee (6-0, 220) spoke about the season put on film.
“I had a great season, better than last year,” Bonne-Annee said. “We played big teams; I had great games against the big teams. In the end, it came down to the refs, and the refs took it out of our hands.”
Getting after it in a 4-2-5 scheme, the Mike backer talked about how his overall game improved this season.
“My speed, my ability to come down and make tackles, reading my keys faster, and my IQ of the game got better,” Bonne-Annee stated. “I am smarter now. My coverage got better too. I had three pass breakups this year and some batted down balls. My strength in the box is if the ball is run through the gap, that is a guaranteed tackle.”
The MLB filled the stat sheet through 10 games with 99 stops, 19 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and five PBUs.
That dog mentality has prompted Akron and Western Michigan to offer with interest picking up.
“I went to the Georgia game last weekend, I have been talking to UT-Martin, NC State, FAU, FIU, and a few others,” Bonne-Annee shared.
Details on the Athens trip was given.
“It was a great visit,” Bonne-Annee said. “Georgia has great fans and a great atmosphere. That was one of the best games I have been to in my life. At the game, there were 92,000 fans; it was unreal.”
In addition to seeing the Bulldogs take down Ole Miss in Sanford Stadium, Bonne-Annee got some one-on-one time with their coaches.
“I talked to coach Fran Brown (DB) and some other coaches,” Bonne-Annee stated. “I did not get to talk to their linebackers coach, coach (Glenn) Schumann.”
A couple more visits are lining up for Bonne-Annee.
“I am planning on visiting FAU and FIU,” Bonne-Annee shared. “There are six other schools I want to visit this offseason.”
On the opportunity to spend time with the Owls’ staff, Bonne-Annee stated, “Going to FAU is staying close to home. FAU is about 45 minutes from where I live. Coach Roc (Bellantoni), their linebackers coach is talking to me. I want to build a bond with him. I want to learn their plays and the packages they run.”
That same enthusiasm extends to hanging with the Panthers.
“Getting to visit FIU, it is the same as FAU,” Bonne-Annee shared. “FIU is close to home, and they have a great program. They have a good educational program as well.”
BEYOND THE INTERVIEW
Bonne-Annee wanted to make sure his Lightning head coach, coach Tommy Caporale, knew of his appreciation.
“I want to give a shout out to coach Cap for building my body and putting me in the position I am in right now,” Bonne-Annee shared.
