Score one for in-state program pride, on Thursday the Bulldogs secured two highly prized four-star recruits when defensive end Malik Herring and wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman joined Georgia’s 2017 recruiting class.
Herring’s recruitment turned into a Battle Royale having some 30 offers set on the table. The 6-3.5, 265 pound, end had his choice of top programs with teams like Alabama, LSU, Cal, Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame, Auburn, USC, UCLA, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Michigan, Iowa, Miami, Mississippi State, and Nebraska all hoping to land his commitment.
Holloman’s recruitment reached an amazing 46 reported offers; there are only 128 FBS programs in college football. The 6-2, 195 pound, Newton High School standout made several visits to Athens including stops at Auburn, an official to Notre Dame, Miami, and Nebraska. The next school up for an official visit was a Dec. 2 trip to LSU; one can assume that has been cancelled.
November turned out to be a nice month for the Bulldogs on the recruiting trail securing in-state linebacker Walter Grant on Nov. 3 and then closed out by Holloman and Herring.
247Sports has moved the Bulldogs class up to No. 3 in the nation, No. 2 overall in the SEC. Rivals has UGA’s class No. 4 in the nation.
