The lockdown cover skills Jivan Baly has are in high demand. The Class of 2024 prospect has received 41 offers but the crowded field is slimming. Teams are reaching out to the Meadowcreek (Norcross, Ga.) three-star defender, but one team has jumped out ahead locking Baly in for an official visit.
UCF, NC State, Auburn, Troy, Virginia, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt are among the regulars making contact with Baly. The Wolfpack welcomed Baly to Raleigh in mid-April.
“NC State always feels like home,” Baly said. “I sat with coach (Brian) Mitchell (CB) watching film on their practice when I was there. I talked to the different coaches on the staff.”
Baly continued talking about the rapport with coach Mitchell and the NC State coaching staff.
“Feels like a bond that is strong already, but it is not fully built, but it is close,” Baly shared. “I feel it.”
While in North Carolina, Baly checked out the Tar Heels.
“North Carolina is a school that I like,” Baly stated. “It was a good visit. I watched them practice, talked to their DB coach, coach (Charlton) Warren, and their head coach, coach (Mack) Brown.”
Three unofficial visits could get penciled in the coming weeks.
“This summer I am going to Florida, UCF, and I will be going to USF (South Florida) on June 2,” Baly said.
The Gators have Baly’s interest.
“They’ve always been a school I have watched,” Baly shared. “The Gators have always been a school in the topic for me.”
The Knights have invested time in building a relationship with Baly.
“UCF is a school that has been showing me love since my sophomore year,” Baly stated. “Coach Addison (Williams), he was moved up to defensive coordinator, he has been on me heavy. I enjoy the atmosphere at the Bounce House; I went to a game there last year when they played Georgia Tech.”
One official has been set, and that paid for trip will take Baly back to Raliegh. Baly spoke about what is important for him to do while spending time with NC State.
“How life will be outside football; I know the football part,” Baly said. “I want to learn more about the people, the campus, and the education. I want to major in journalism; I want to learn more about that. Hopefully I can use that to base my decision.”
A commitment for the state of Georgia product could come by the end of June.
“My official visit is June 23 to NC State, I would like to commit after that,” Baly shared. “I would have visits in before then, and have my decision made up. I’ll say June 27, around there, I will have my commitment ready.”
