Three official visits scheduled, two taken, and one is ahead for Lorenzo Cowan (6-4, 220) before making his verbal commitment public on Sunday. The weekend official for Cowan now looms large for three eager fanbases.

The three favorites were listed by Cowan, “My top schools are South Florida, West Virginia, and Kentucky.”

The Jenkins High School (Savannah, Ga.) three-star shifted through 18 offers setting paid for trips with West Virginia (June 20) and South Florida (June 23) over the summer. Ahead of his official with the Wildcats this weekend for the Eastern Kentucky game, Cowan gave his feelings on each program.

THE BREAKDOWN

South Florida: “The staff was very consistent in recruiting me. They treat you like family, and everything they do is genuine; that is what I really like about their staff. There are familiar faces down at South Florida with the players on the team.”

West Virginia: “It is a different atmosphere there; it would be easy to lock in with football there. Everyone is very close there. It is more than a town than anywhere else I have been recruited. I know the staff, and I have a former teammate up there; I have great relationships at West Virginia. I am really cool with coach (Jordan) Lesley (OLB). I can feel a family vibe from their staff.”

Kentucky: “With Kentucky, it is the best of both worlds. It is located in a city and a town. Obviously, my brother Tavion (Gadson) is up there. I have a good relationship with coach (Chris) Collins (DB) and coach (Brad) White (DC/OLB). Our relationship has really developed over the past few months, but it was there even before then, back when they were recruiting my brother. I have a relationship with the players up there and I am in tune with their program with my brother being up there.”

While in Lexington, Cowan has an academic checklist he wants answered.

“The most important thing for me at Kentucky is the academic side,” Cowan shared. “I have been there numerous times, but when I have been there it was not always about me; it has been about me in a way. My biggest thing is learning about my major (sports psychology) and the ins and outs of my major at Kentucky. I have pretty much seen everything else aside from my area of study.”

The date has been set, a time for Cowan’s announcement has not been determined yet. When the final decision is made, Cowan knows what will separate the one from the rest.

“Intuition,” Cowan said. “At the end of the day, you have to take into account all the pros and cons, and you can never ignore the gut feeling that God gives you. That is what I will go by after taking in the pros and cons, the good and the bad.”
