Regardless of website rankings and scholarship offers, Joe T. Robinson senior running back/linebacker Caezar Warren is one of the best all-around athletes in the state of Arkansas ready to play at the next level in the right fit. The gifted talent is in rarified air with over 1,000 yards rushing and 120-plus tackles on the year helping guide his team to a 11-0 record with a state championship trophy within reach.

Few outside the Natural State may be aware of Warren after spending his junior season at Little Rock Hall, a team that posted a 2-8 record in 2016. Warren has always been a do-everything player, highlighted by his breakthrough senior. With potential games left to play, the 11-game stat line has Warren with 1,078 yards off 107 carries with 16 touchdowns and 123 tackles, 30 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.

The numbers within the numbers tell the tale. Warren is averaging over 10-yards per carry even with an 8-man box starring him down and run blitzes to get past play after play. A linebacker getting over the 100-tackle plateau is a milestone in an of its self but propped up by his double-duties on offense. Adding to his long list of athletic achievements, he has two kickoff returns for 141 yards with 18 total touchdowns scored.

Oddly, Warren is not being widely recruited… yet. Schools showing interest in Warren so far includes Arkansas, Louisiana-Monroe, Harding, and Ouachita Baptist. Harding and Ouachita Baptist have hosted Warren on a visit with OBU playing host on Saturday, Nov. 18.

Back on the field, the Senators crushed Dardanelle 42-14 in the second round of the playoffs after receiving a first round bye. Next up is Gosnell (9-3), a stingy defensive squad allowing just 14 points per game. In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I sat down with Warren for a quick update on the Senators playoff game against Dardanelle with a look ahead to Gosnell and received an overview on his OBU visit.

Interview

The Senators took care of Dardanelle in the second round of the playoffs 42-14, how did the game go for you?

“It was great. I had a couple of good runs to start the game. Everyone was focused on the game, we were ready.”

Per the score, it looks like you guys were firing on all cylinders. For those of us that were not there, how did the game go overall?

“On defense, we had a couple of mistakes early but we corrected that. We held them to 22 yards or negative 3-yards in the first. The starters sat out in the second half.”

How did the OBU visit go?

“It was fun. The coaches talked to me and asked me questions. They did a “Bear Walk”. They do that before every game, that was cool. The Greek groups are out there cheering and having fun. That was a great environment.”

What was your lasting impression of the visit?

“I liked it. I liked the purple field too.”

Do you have any other planned visits set?

“No, sir. I’m waiting until the playoffs are over. Coach (Brain) Maupin handles all the recruiting. I think interest is coming in but he wants me to stay focused on the playoffs.”

Let’s look ahead to the next game. The Senators get Gosnell (9-3) in the third round for the right to go into the semifinals, what kind of game are you guys expecting from the Pirates?

“From talking to some of the guys that have played them before, they are tough on defense. On offense, we just have to get the job done.”

Over the last five games, your stat line has shot up. What’s been working for you on the field allowing to the big increase in numbers?

“Our coaches have been focused on us going through our drills in practice, that has helped. On onffense, me being patient, finding the gap, and using my blockers. I’ve been doing a better job of using them more and I’m gaining more yards. On defense, I’ve been paying extra attention in practice. We’ve been watching a lot of film. We should be able to call out the plays before they run it. In practice, the coaches have us call out the play before the scout team runs it. We drill that way until we get it right.”

Caezar, thanks for your time today and good luck on Friday against Gosnell.

“Thank you.”
