BRADENTON, Fla. – The stat sheet says it all, Daron Jean gets after it on Friday nights. The Class of 2024 corner took on Florida competition with Manatee High School (Bradenton) last fall stopping 20 plays with four picks and 12 passes broken up. College coaches are now learning what Jean (5-10, 165) can do on the field with his first four offers dropped in late spring.
Springtime was improving time for Jean.
“It went great,” Jean said. “I love to compete. I got better each and every day. I worked on my back pedal, getting in and out of my breaks, my explosion, being more aggressive and more physical at the line.”
Florida International, South Dakota, Pembroke, and Charlotte handed over scholarship opportunities with interest rising.
“South Dakota, New Hampshire, USF, Middle Tennessee, there were a lot of coaches that came by,” Jean stated. “New Hampshire, Delaware, Bryant, and USF are showing interest.”
Valdosta State, Florida State, and USF are on the summer camp schedule for Jean. A relationship with the Bulls’ staff in Tampa is developing.
“I am talking to their DB coach (Matt Birkett) and their recruiting coordinator (Will Bahler),” Jean shared.
Jean continued, “Our relationship is great. I love their coaches; they’ve been reaching out.”
When Jean competes at South Florida’s camp, he knows what he wants to accomplish.
“I want to go out there and be me, and ball out,” Jean said. “I just want to go out there and execute.”
