The Washington Huskies have put together the foundation of a great class that could rival some of the perennial winners on the recruiting trail when National Signing Day comes around in February. Another key piece to the class was added on Saturday when Oregon four-star cornerback Elijah Molden announced he was heading to Seattle in 2017.
Molden is a key piece of West Linn High School’s 11-0 season this year. The Lions are ranked No. 1 in the state trouncing opponents with a high scoring offense averaging 48 points a game while holding teams to 14 points. The Lions use Molden on offense at running back where he has 39 carries for 423 yards with four scores and in the passing attack with 17 receptions for 224 yards with six more touchdowns in six games played. Teams typically shy away from Molden when he is lined up at corner coming up with just eight tackles and one interception thus far.
Many felt that Oregon was the team to beat to get Molden but the Huskies upward trend on the field under head coach Chris Petersen is paying off on the recruiting trail. The 5-11, 185 pound, all-around athlete posted his commitment on Twitter writing, “GO DAWGS!” followed by a statement:
247Sports rates Washington’s 2017 class No. 18 overall, No. 2 in the Pac-12. Rivals ranks the Huskies class No. 21 in the nation with eight four-star verbal commits.
