VENICE, Fla. – The recruiting stock for 2024 cornerback Deylen Platt (6-3, 185) continues to skyrocket. Since mid-May, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Illinois, and South Florida have extended scholarship opportunities to Platt. Illinois hosted the three-star Venice High School (Fla.) defender on an official in June with two more paid for trips set.

Platt covered the June OV with the Illini.

“It went great,” Platt said. “I met a lot of good people. They have good players and a good coaching staff; they made me feel that is a really good place to be.”

The Illinois staff kept Platt busy while in town.

“They took me out to eat a lot,” Platt shared. “We had a lot of food, you never had to worry about starving; you were always full. We had a lot of activities. We played paintball, went to the pool with a couple of the players, and at night we went out to eat with more players. It was a fun experience all around.”

Being able to see the team bond impressed Platt.

“Out of the football picture, it was how the coaches and players interacted with the recruits,” Platt stated. “It really made me feel that is a good place to be.”

Before the Indians’ preseason practices ramp up in August, Platt has an unofficial on the schedule.

“July 29, I am probably heading up to Tampa to USF for an unofficial visit,” Platt shared.

The time with the Bulls will help Platt see their team chemistry.

“I know they are cooking up there; they’ll have a lot of food,” Platt said. “I want to get up there to see the campus and meet all the coaches and players.”

One is set and another official is being planned.

“I am planning on going, Sept. 15-17 we are going on an official visit to Ole Miss for the Georgia Tech game,” Platt stated. “I’m planning on taking an official visit to Louisville during the season.”

Insight to the rapport with the Rebels’ staff was given, “They have a good staff. Coach (Lane) Kiffin, love him. Great guy. Their DB coach, coach (Keynodo) Hudson (CB), we talk almost every day. He checks up on me. They have good people there. It is a college town, I love that.”

Since Louisville offered middle of May, the Cardinals have kept on Platt letting him know he is a priority in their ’24 class.

“They offered me right after the spring game; coach (Mark) Ivey (LB) did,” Platt shared. “He has been checking up on me every day. One of my teammates from two years ago, MG (Makhete Gueye), he’s up there right now. I check in with him every day; he’s letting me know how things are going up there.”

For both Ole Miss and Louisville, Platt spoke about what he wants to accomplish during those official stops.

“Really, how the players are,” Platt said. “I want to ask the players about everything. I have questions outside of the football world, how the coaches are, how the campus is, and what there is to do. I have questions about everything.”

Platt also holds offers from Appalachian State, Bethune-Cookman, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, and Oregon State with interest coming in from teams like UCF and Middle Tennessee.
