When Crisp County High School goes on the road facing Georgia competition, Barry Walker is that guy you want walking off the bus first. The 28-offer offensive tackle is imposing in person, and more so in full pads, stretching the tape at 6-foot, 6-inches, while tipping the scale at 315 pounds. The cornerstone lineman teams can build around has two official visits set with two in the works.

While LSU, Florida, and Oklahoma are reaching out with a possible scholarship offer to give, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State are pushing communication keeping tabs on Walker.

The work building a bond with Walker has panned out for two ACC squads.

“I have set official visits with Louisville and Georgia Tech,” Walker said. “Louisville is June 16-18 and Georgia Tech is June 23-25.”

Walker is ready to learn more about the Cardinals’ program.

“Louisville, that is a place I have always been interested in,” Walker shared. “Coach Rich (Richard Owens – OL) is there, we stay in touch.”

Communication and proximity is helping the Yellow Jackets with Walker.

“Georgia Tech is two hours away, and their coaches are cool,” Walker stated. “We text every day. When we talk, we talk about any and everything.”

Asked if any other official visits may be set, Walker replied, “Probably Florida State and Ole Miss.”

Walker shared his thoughts on the Seminoles, “With Florida State, I feel comfortable with them. I have always had a good connection with them.”

Having Class of 2023 teammate Ahmad Brown in Oxford is a draw for Walker.

“I would have a guy there I would know, AJ Brown,” Walker shared. “I know he would make me feel like it is home. I am really cool with their coaches. Coach (John) Garrison (OL) came down to see me this spring.”

While dates for the trips to Tallahassee and Oxford get worked out, Walker has an idea when he may commit.

“I want to commit before the season starts, in August or July,” Walker said.
