Jacob Oehmen does it all at South Central High School in Union Mills. The 5’11”, 170-pound, playmaker had 54 total tackles, four interceptions and one forced fumble at the safety position and had 10 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver.
This Class of 2022 prospect has an incredible eye for the ball and quickness while also possessing a unique ability to read opposing offenses.
Oehmen is already drawing interest from several schools and it’s only a matter of time before he reels in his first college offer.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Jacob to talk about his junior season and his preparations for his upcoming senior season.
Interview
Jacob, how would you grade your individual performance during your junior season?
I would grade my performance on the offensive side as mediocre or average. But on the defensive side of the ball, I was a ballhawk and tracked the ball very well and could come down in run support when needed.
What would you say was your best game and why?
My best game was against Bishop Noll. I had a pick and 10 tackles, and we played very well as a team all around.
What are your strengths on the football field?
Personally, I think my best traits are my acceleration and quickness, and ability to read the offense.
Did you receive any individual honors?
I was All-Conference second team.
What kind of defensive scheme does your team run?
It’s a base under front coverage is base cover 4 but we also run some split coverage.
How do your skills fit into this scheme?
This coverage works for me because it allows me to float over the top but also be able to come down in run support.
What is your favorite thing about playing defensive back?
My favorite thing about defensive back is the freedom and being able to see everything over the top.
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
I try to model my game around Jalen Ramsey, because he is a dog in coverage and can also come up and stick people.
Do you play any other sports in high school?
I play baseball in high school and also am on a travel ball team.
Have you attended any camps this summer?
Yes, I have attended showcases and camps and plan to go to more.
Are you receiving interest from any schools?
I have some interest from small schools but I have no offers.
What have you worked on the most this off-season?
I have worked very hard in the off-season to get to the point where I am now.
What is your GPA?
I hold a 2.8 GPA.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:16.
What are your goals for your senior season?
My goals for this season are to have a monster season and click as a team.
Thank you for your time today.
Thank you, sir.
