The recruiting sweepstakes for Class of 2022 receiver Charles “Chas” Nimrod (6-3, 180) are reaching a fever pitch. After wowing college coaches during the 2020 season by hauling in 36 passes for 770 yards reaching the end zone 12 times, 18 offers have been dropped. The three-star Bentonville High School talent has taken advantage of the lifted dead period taking four of his allotted official visits with an unofficial to hometown powerhouse Arkansas.

Interview

Chas, let’s pick up with your offseason workouts. With all the work put into your game, what do you now feel are the strengths to your skills as a receiver?

I am more explosive. I’ve had a broken hand, so I haven’t been able to run routes.

How did you break your hand?

It was our first day when the track guys could practice spring ball. I was doing a blocking drill when a safety came down and put a facemask in my hand. It was a freak accident. A boxer’s break.

Are you back to 100 percent?

Yes, sir. I am now. I’m catching again and everything.

Have you been doing any unique workouts to improve upon your speed and quickness?

Sand work and a lot of sled pushes.

Let’s dive straight into your recruiting. You’ve been busy. Which schools have you visited this summer?

I went to Arkansas, Arkansas State, Utah State, Washington State, Illinois, and I just came back from Kansas State.

To share with everyone, the Utah State, Washington State, Illinois, and Kansas State visits were officials, right?

Yes, sir.

Before we get into some of your official visits, let’s update the in-state followers. How did your unofficial to Arkansas go?

It went really well. It was fun. I went up there two more times to watch film with Coach G (Kenny Guiton – receivers).

During your official to Washington State, what all did you do?

I learned about their school, saw around Pullman, and went and hit golf balls; that was fun. I went to a film session with Coach (Andre) Allen (WR); that was fun too.

And the Kansas State official, what all did you do during that trip?

Basically the same things. I learned about Kansas State and toured the school. We played golf while I was there. I played nine holes with my grandpa, my uncle, and with Coach (Courtney) Messingham (OC/WR).

That sounds like a lot of fun. I have to ask, who won that nine-hole round of golf?

I’d like to say I did, but Coach Messingham is really good.

With the Illinois visit, what were some of the things that impressed you?

Their campus and facilities, and Coach (George) McDonald (WR); we talk all the time. They have a family bond there that shows. The attention to detail throughout the visit impressed me.

Do you have any other upcoming visits planned?

No, but I really want to visit Tennessee, even though I don’t have an offer.

How many offers do you have now?

I have 18.

Nimrod’s Offer Sheet: Arkansas, Arkansas State, Bowling Green, FIU, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico, Tulane, Tulsa, Utah State, and Washington State

Which programs are showing interest but have not offered yet?

Liberty texts me every once in a while and Tennessee; they reach out to my coach often. I don’t know really any other schools than that.

I’m sure the fanbase and college coaches want to know getting this question constantly, are you going to put out a Top Schools list?

I probably won’t do that. I’d rather keep it private.

Makes sense. Have you started thinking about a commitment date?

I have one official left; I would like to take it during the season if I pick up another offer to a school that I am interested in. But I will probably make a decision before the season.

Chas, great getting time with you today. Wishing you the best of luck preparing for your senior season and with the recruiting process.

Yes, sir. Thank you.
