American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida, has a well-deserved reputation for producing top quality college football recruits. The south Florida school is a must-stop for college recruiters. One of the must-see student-athletes on the list for college coaches to bridge that gap of interest is Class of 2020 offensive lineman Hunter Zambrano. The 6-5, 300-pound, talent is a beast in the trenches, a weight room warrior, also throws shot and discuss for the Patriots, and is a hard worker in the classroom carrying a 3.6 GPA. Two offers have come in from Southern Miss and Morgan State with loads of interest pouring in from all over the country.
In an RNG catch-up interview, I sat down with Zambrano catching up on his offseason workout goals and busy spring schedule potentially visiting as many as seven schools.

Interview
Hunter, during the 2019 offseason, what is your workout schedule to improve overall as an offensive lineman?
“I’ve been working five days a week; three days a week on technique, weight lifting every day working on my pass-pro and run game, which is looking very good, and I do two days of conditioning.”
Which areas of your game are you working on this spring?
“I am planning on attending a lot of upcoming camps like the Under Armour All-American Camp, the Nike Opening Regional, and the Adidas Three-Stripe Camp. I’ve been doing a lot of pass-pro drills, working on my footwork, and working some on my run blocking. I have been primarily focusing on my pass-pro for the camps.”
Are you working with an offensive line coach this offseason?
“Yes, sir. I am working with John Sinclair. He played 11 years in NFL with the Browns, Dolphins and Rams.”
Where are you seeing big improvements already?
“I am seeing better balance and better stability in my stance and blocking. A lot of that is coming from increased core strength. My ankle flexibility with my footwork and my punch is getting better, it is a lot stronger. I feel my pass sets are more explosive and my feet are getting faster.”
I know you are a warrior in the weight room, have you maxed out lately?
“I hit 225 for 15 on bench. My bench max is around 325. My squat max, I did 315 for six on squats and my deadlift is 465.”
Going into recruiting. Which schools are showing interest but have not offered yet?
“I am receiving interest from a lot of schools. I am going to Louisville next month, they are showing interest, Mississippi State, I just talked to Utah, TCU, FAU (Florida Atlantic), UCF (Central Florida), FIU (Florida International), and USF (South Florida) are showing a lot of interest right now. Oregon and Florida spoke with me on Tuesday.”
What are the college saying to you when you speak with them?
“They want to see me move this spring in practices. They are coming back to see me this spring.”
Which schools have offered you?
“I have offers from Morgan State and Southern Miss.”
Have you taken any recent visits?
“Yes. I went to FIU a couple of days ago.”
How did the FIU visit go?
“It went really well. I talked to their offensive line coach, he likes my film. He also wants to see me this spring.”
You mentioned visiting Louisville, do you have any other planned visits coming up?
“Yes. I am planning on visiting Mississippi State, UCF, FAU, FIU again, Florida and maybe Oregon.”
Busy man. With the Louisville visit, what has you excited about checking out the program and campus on that trip?
“I really like the new coaching staff there. One of our players, linebacker Dorian Jones is committed there. Dorian and I are tight. I am excited to tour the campus and see what everything is like.”
Hunter, it is always great catching up with you. I appreciate your time today.
“Thank you.”
