If seeing a sporting event live helps one’s appreciation for the talents on display, seeing Class of 2020 receiver Miles Davis is a “must-see” in-person. The 6-1, 185-pound, standout for Las Vegas High School is already a gifted all-around athlete with track ribbons and football All-Conference and All-State honors as proof. But he still has that feel of a player on the gridiron coming into his own just now understanding how dominating of a talent he can be. All those gifts and potential are still on the proverbial open-market for some college football program to take advantage of over the next four years.
The writing on the wall was there with Davis during his junior campaign. He hauled in 38 passes for 437 yards with seven touchdowns during a 3-7 run for his Wildcats squad. Coincidence or not, as Davis elevated his game, so went the fortunes of the Wildcats. The Vegas team produced a 9-2 season against 4A competition with their stud receiver snagging 46 passes for 1,041 yards making 11 trips into the end zone and added a rushing score.
Collegiate staffs have been slow to find Davis, but they are finding him. He has 11 offers to choose from having taken official visits to Montana State and Sacramento State.
In an RNG catch-up interview, Davis and I pour over his amazing accomplishments during his senior run with an update on his recruiting options.

Interview
Miles, you had a really nice junior season but you absolutely tore it up in 2019. What was the secret to your success during your senior season?
“Putting in the work in on and off the field, even when no one was looking. Going to those two camps over the summer, seeing the top athletes that are making it to the big schools, that helped me a lot. My amazing coaches helped me also.”
How were defenses trying to cover you?
“A couple of teams tried to double-team me. Some would try to play back, but they couldn’t because I would run a short route. Most tried to double-team right away from the top of the route.”
What were some of the obstacles or changes you had to make to your game to keep being productive on the field as defenses keyed on trying to stop you?
“I had to play meaner and more aggressive. I made sure when I got hit, that hit did not knock me down. That helped me out a lot this year.”
Of all the games played, which was your top performance in 2019?
“My first game against Adelanto. I scored four TDs in that game. My amazing QB helped me. He kept throwing the ball to me and the coaches were calling the plays to get me wide open.”
Where did you show the biggest improvements in your overall game?
“My route running improved throughout the season along with my hands and catching in space. My speed improved as well.”
Which schools are showing interest as National Signing Day nears but have not offered yet?
“Utah State, Utah, Washington State, Eastern Washington, and a couple other schools.”
How many offers do you have now?
“Eleven.”
Davis’ Offer Sheet: BYU, Central Michigan, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Ottawa (AZ), Sacramento State, Southern Utah, Weber State, and UNLV
From the start of the 2019 season up to now, have you taken any official and/or unofficial visits?
“Yes, sir. I have taken an official to Montana State and Sacramento State and an unofficial to UNLV.”
How did the Montana State trip go?
“It was cool. Both Montana State and Sacramento State were cool. I liked the vibes up there and both had a cool atmosphere.”
Are you planning any other visits ahead of NSD?
“This weekend I am taking an official to Weber State. I am not sure about others yet. There are three schools that want me to visit, and Kansas wants me for track.”
With the trip this weekend, what has you excited about the official to Weber State?
“I have some buddies that play up there. The coaches are cool there. I want to see their facilities and learn more about the academics.”
What are college coaches telling you they like about your abilities on the field?
“They like how I am explosive, my speed, how I catch with my hands not my body, and how I am aggressive – my dog mentality.”
When putting the pieces together for an ideal fit, what are the most important points that fit the criteria?
“My major, Kinesiology, and family orientated approach. Some schools don’t treat each other like family. They play football and go home. The coaches, how they treat their players, is another important thing to me.”
From our past talks, and you just mentioning that Kansas wants you, which events will you be running this spring?
“In track I am running the 400, 200, relays, and I might run the 100.”
Impressive. Is there anything you’d like to share before we wrap the interview?
“I want to give a shout out to my coaches, my friends and family, and my QB for all they have done.”
Miles, it was great catching up with you today. Wishing you success on the recruiting trail and with your upcoming track season.
“Thank you.”
