The process of acquiring offensive line talent for college football programs is not easy. Talents ranging in the 6-4 to 6-7, weighing 300 pounds, and can move with power is not an everyday commodity. Class of 2019 offensive lineman Angel Flores falls into that unique/uncommon range on the recruiting trail. At 6-5, 340 pounds, he is a beast in the trenches ready to maul at the snap of the ball. Despite his three-star status, college teams have not scouted the talented lineman out of Dos Pueblos Senior in Goleta (CA) making him one of the more widely overlooked recruiting gems left on the market.
In an RNG stylized catch-up interview, I sat down with Flores covering his season, offseason workouts, and recruiting prospects.

Interview
Angel, how did your senior year go on the field for you personally?
“It went pretty well. I played in 11 of our 12 games. I had no dramatic injuries, which was great.”
Which areas of your run blocking improved the most?
“My offensive line coach, I had him for two years, those were the best two years for me learning from him. He has been coaching for 25 years. He has improved my overall game a lot. My stance was probably the lowest out of all the offensive linemen on our team and I am five to six inches taller than everyone. That was crazy. My first couple of steps are dangerous. I think I am a perfect fit for the next level.”
And with your pass blocking, how did that part of your game improve?
“My pass-pro, we did not pass a lot compared to running. From the camps I attended and the limited game reps, it improved from previous years. My punch, it gets you stood up. My bend for my size – I think it is incredible how well I move for how big I am.”
I would agree with that. What do you think are the strengths of your game as an offensive lineman you will bring to a college program?
“When I arrive at a school, I will make an impact. I am a leader. I am competitive, I want to win and be the best.”
Since the season ended, what have you been working on to help improve your skills?
“I am focused on my footwork. Every Saturday and Sunday in 2019, I will be with my coaches working. I want to get my feet as fast as possible.”
How is everything in the weight room?
“I have not maxed out since the season ended. My in-season maxes were 510 on squat, 300 on bench, dead-lift 495, and my power clean was 270.”
You have the offer from San Jose State, which other schools are showing interest?
“I am receiving interest from APU (Azusa Pacific) and Fresno State.”
Have you had a chance to visit any schools during the season or since your season ended?
“Yes. I took a game visit to Fresno State.”
How did the Fresno State visit go?
“It was cool. The atmosphere was incredible. I loved how the community is all football, that was very cool.”
Do you have any planned visits upcoming?
“Yes. I am going to APU on an unofficial on Jan. 10 and I plan on visiting San Jose State.”
Last question. What are some of the characteristics that you feel sets you apart from other linemen in the 2019 class?
“I feel that I am an impact player. I am a leader, I am versatile, hard-working, and I am a baller.”
Angel, great catching up with you today. Good luck with your upcoming visits.
“Thank you.”
