High school football fans in southern California could see it coming, the rise of Class of 2020 running back Chris Street. Street rolled tough for 609 yards off 71 totes with nine scores in 2017 helping Mater Dei to a California and national state title. With the transfer to JSerra Catholica (San Juan Capistrano) for the 2018 season, Street was given the featured back role more than living up to the hype earning first team All-Trinity League honors after covering 1,342 yards off 202 carries with 17 rushing scores and pulled in seven passes for another 154 yards with a touchdown. Five schools have offered, Oregon, Florida, San Jose State, Washington State, and Utah, with more west coast interest building.
In an RNG catch-up interview, I sat down with one of California’s top 2020 running backs covering his offseason workout goals and recruiting prospects.

Interview
Chris, looking back on your personal 2018 season, what are some of the things you accomplished that makes you most proud?
“One thing I am most proud of is having a big impact on the team and being able to rile the guys up in practice and in game to get them ready to play. I feel I did a good job of inspiring them to always work hard.”
You carried the rock over 200 times, and against Trinity League and tough non-conference squads. How many days after the season ended did you let your body rest before getting back after it?
“Initially, I rested for about three days until I started to feel lazy and started working out again. During our Christmas break I took a little more time to rest and recover.”
What have you been working on since the season ended?
“Getting faster. I am on the track team. We are working on the top end speed and explosiveness.”
Are there one or two things that are most important for you to work on this offseason before your senior year begins other than your speed?
“I am focused on my low points and trying to maximizing those areas. The goal is improving my overall skill set this offseason.”
Are you playing with a 7v7 squad this spring?
“Yes. I will be playing with Ground Zero here and there.”
How are you hoping playing 7v7 with Ground Zero will help improve your game this spring?
“I want to make sure I have my football speed, shiftiness, and quickness. I do not want to lose my football skillset.”
You mentioned you are already in track season, which events are you running?
“I am running the 100, 200, and 4×1 relay.”
Nice. Going into recruiting. How many offers do you have now?
“I have five. Washington State was the last school to offer me.”
Congratulations.
“Thank you.”
Which schools are showing interest but have not offered yet?
“A few schools came up to our school before the break. I talked to Colorado, USC, Arizona, and UCLA. The UCLA coaches stayed to watch us workout in the weight room.”
Do you have any planned visits you may take soon?
“I might go up to UCF (Central Florida) on Jan 26th with Ground Zero. We will be in Orlando for a 7v7 tournament. Sometime this spring or summer, I really want to get up to Utah and Oregon.”
Chris, it was great catching up with you today. Good luck with your offseason workouts and with track season.
“Thank you.”
