The truly motivated ones who aspire for greatness always find a way to keep working to achieve their goals, and that is what Class of 2021 offensive lineman Anthony Rosas has done this spring. With options limited, Rosas has put together a unique home workout circuit that includes pushing his car down the street to further develop his run blocking technique. If the thought of a 6-4, 301-pound, right tackle pushing a 3,000-pound car down the street was not intriguing enough, the three-star recruit continues to add scholarship offers to his list. The Sierra Vista High School product has pushed his scholarship total to 13 with his most recent offer coming from UNLV.

In an RNG catch-up interview, Rosas updates his recruiting process and planned visits this summer along with his home workouts.

Interview

Anthony, we’ve caught up a few times this offseason covering your workouts and training. During this downtime, what have you been doing from a technique standpoint to keep on the grind?

“I’ve been practicing exploding out of my stance, but I have nothing to pop into; I’ve been pushing my car to work on my drive. I am getting better and better.”

Let’s roll with that. Is someone in the car steering as you push it down the street?

“No. I put it in neutral, push it, but try not to move too much or go too fast. If it gets going, I get in to stop it.”

That’s what I call going all out. Other than pushing cars, what is your daily workout routine?

“Right now, I am doing core workouts, explosion squats, push-ups, and quick bursts.”

Are you doing any lifting and running?

“I am doing some lifting. I have some weights of my own. I am doing curls and military press. I am hitting three plates on my max bench. I am also working on my lower body.”

Every time we speak, there are exciting things happening for you with recruiting. If you will, update me on the schools showing interest.

“The schools that are showing interest are Cal, UC-Davis, San Diego State, LSU, Arizona, Oregon State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, Duke and Columbia.”

Wow. That’s fantastic. I know UNLV just offered you, how did the Rebels’ staff notify you of the scholarship?

“I was on the phone with their offensive line coach, Coach Cameron Norcross, and I was also talking to their running backs coach, Coach B (Scott Baumgartner). I spoke with Coach B first. When I was talking to them, we had an amazing conversation. The connection was there right away. They said, “we want you up here right away.” I will go up there as soon as possible to visit.”

Other than visiting UNLV, do you have any other planned visits coming up?

“I have a lot. Once everything is over, I will visit San Diego State, Cal, and I will hit up east coast going to Florida State, Florida, Miami, and Auburn.”

Will any of those be official visits?

“No. I will take my officials later in the season.”

Did you have any planned visits before everything was shut down?

“Yes. A trip to San Diego State was planned, they wanted to see me in person. That was on March 15th. There was a visit to Cal that was cancelled as well.”

How many offers do you have right now?

“Thirteen.”

Last question. What have you been doing during this downtime for fun?

“Besides working out, playing video games.”

Which game?

“Call of Duty.”

Anthony, thanks for your time today and keep up the hard work this spring.

“Thank you.”
