Interview
Garrett, because you are so athletic and versatile, let’s start off with all the positions you played during the 2020 season.
I lined up at defensive end, tight end, fullback, receiver and slot receiver, and outside linebacker.
As that tight end/H-back, how did your skills as a blocker improve during the 2020 campaign?
Towards the end of the season, I was getting after it hitting everyone. I feel that I was one of the best blocking tight ends in the state this season.
Your fight for extra yards ready to lower the boom on a defender has always been there. What are some other traits to the receiving part of your game that were showcased this season?
My speed, my height, and my ability to get down the field.
How did the season go for you on defense?
I only played a few games on defense this season. I would have liked to play more. It was good.
Let’s close with a quick update on recruiting. How many offers are you holding now?
I have 14 offers.
Gillette’s Offer Sheet (14): Arizona State, Ball State, Buffalo, Central Florida, Central Michigan, Fordham, Iowa State, Liberty, Michigan State, Northern Iowa, Ohio, Toledo, and Western Illinois
Which schools are showing interest?
Pitt is showing a lot of interest, Liberty – they offered, Ohio – they reoffered, and Purdue.
Garrett, it was great catching up with you today. Wishing you success with your recruiting process going forward.
Thank you.
