Interview

Sam, since the Week 1 game against Oaks Christian the Crusaders have been crushing the opposition. What is working well for the team on both sides of the ball?

“We have definitely brought up our energy on both sides of the ball which helps us fly around and make plays.”

You guys hung 50 points on Garfield on Sept. 28, how did that game go for you?

“The game against Garfield was good for everyone. We definitely played the way we were supposed to for the win.”

The Crusaders rolled up a very good O’Dea team, then ranked No. 3 in state, how big was that win for you and the team?

“The win against O’Dea felt amazing since there was a lot of talk about who was No. 1 in the state. It felt even better that they are our rivals.”

How were you able to showcase your talents on both sides of the ball in that game?

“I played to the best of my ability in that game and played wherever my team needed me. Everyone was excited for that game and we knew what we had to do to get the win.”

In the stat column, you’ve been turning it on over the past three- four games. You are racking up the scores on offense and are up to three picks on the season, what has changed allowing you to take your game to the next level? What are you doing differently? How is everything coming together for you on both sides of the ball?

“I don’t believe that anything has changed, I play every week like it’s the championship game and see every opponent as nameless and faceless.”

You guys face Ferndale (4-5) on Friday at home, what kind of challenge will the Panthers bring to the field for the Crusaders?

“If we play to the best of our ability then we should come out with the result we want. We just need to eliminate our own mistakes or else we could beat ourselves.”

I’m always interested in the recruiting interest update with you, which schools are newly showing interest you and/or have offered you?

“I’ve been in contact with many schools such as Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Purdue, TCU and Louisville.”

Last question. In the small amount of free time you have away from football and school work, what are you doing for fun to break away from all the hard work?

“I usually am just hanging out with my friends and chilling.”

Sam, always great catching up with you. I appreciate your time and good luck against Ferndale.

“Thank you.”
