The last two seasons Logan Loya has put his skills to the test against some of the best competition in the nation suiting up with Orange Lutheran. During his sophomore season he broke out with 68 receptions for 825 yards with 12 trips into the end zone. That showing was improved upon after wrangling in 73 passes for 1,057 yards with 11 scores routinely breaking down five- and four-star defensive backs. He even showcased his overall athleticism playing some defense with 20 tackles, a pick, and a tackle for a loss playing part-time. All the hard work earned Loya (6-0, 190) first team All-Trinity League honors and turned him into a four-star prized recruit with 12 honors. He is now putting his talents to the test in 2019 in a new way making the move from Orange Lutheran to St. John Bosco.

In an RNG catch-up interview, Logan and I cover his transfer and recent visits to Arizona State and UCLA with an unofficial this weekend to USC.

Interview

Logan, how is the transfer from Orange Lutheran to St. John Bosco going for you?

“Great. I am loving it. I love the coaches and my new teammates. I love the atmosphere and culture here.”

How are you adapting to the new offense?

“Pretty well. There is a lot of similar stuff from OLU at Bosco – both are running the spread. I am learning the playbook day by day.”

What are you doing with your offseason workouts?

“I am strictly hitting the speed. The offseason goal is to get faster, and it is paying off. I am working on everything, but my speed is tops for sure.”

Other than your speed, where else are you showing the biggest improvements?

“My strength. That is showing during one-on-ones. If someone is trying to hold me, I am getting off. I am bullying the defensive backs now.”

I like it. Are you going to any national camps upcoming?

“Yes. I am going to the Nike Opening Regional in Oakland in May.”

With recruiting, how many offers are you sitting on now?

“I have 12 offers.”

Which schools were the last couple to offer you?

“Washington and Washington State.”

Loya’s Offer Sheet: Iowa State, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, San Jose State, Oregon State, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, and Arizona State, Washington, and Washington State

Which schools are showing interest?

“USC and UCLA.”

Have you taken any unofficial visits over the last few weeks?

“Yes. I went to Arizona State and I went to UCLA the other day.”

How did the ASU visit go?

“It was super fun, super cool. I met all the coaches and talked to the players. I really enjoyed it.”

What about UCLA, how did that go?

“It was pretty cool. I went during their Pro Day. I watched their seniors do their Pro Day, it was pretty cool.”

Do you have any planned visits coming up?

“Yes. On Saturday, I am going to SC for a Junior Day.”

What has you excited about visiting SC?

“I am excited to meet their new offensive coordinator (Graham Harrell).”

When you take your visits as you get closer to your senior year, what are some of the things with recruiting that will start separating one school from another as you start narrowing down the programs you feel might be the ideal fit for you?

“I am looking for a place that benefits me. I am looking for a place that is best for me while I am there and for after I graduate. I want a place where I can improve with a chance to hopefully go to the NFL.”

Logan, always great catching up with you. I appreciate your time and hope the USC visit goes great for you this weekend.

“Thank you.”
