There is good reason Class of 2021 quarterback Miller Moss holds offers spanning the country from the Ivy League, SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Mountain West, and Pac-12 – he can sling it. He followed up an impressive sophomore season with LA area’s Alemany High School when he threw for 2,714 yards and 19 touchdowns with a 215 of 319 performance covering 3,118 yards with 28 scores and rushed for two more touchdowns. His play on the field has brought 17 reported offers, but those late to the party might be missing out on a difference maker in their offense. The Mission League MVP of the 2019 season is two months away from making a verbal commitment.

In an RNG exclusive interview, I sat down with Moss getting the inside scoop on his junior campaign and recruiting process as he nears his announcement.

Interview

Miller, the 2019 run was another big season for you both in the win-loss column and with your stats. Looking back, what are you most proud of with your play during your junior season?

“The thing I am most proud of is the jump I made from one year to the other. My sophomore year was not a cakewalk. I grew a lot between those two years, that is what I am most proud of.”

As your experience within the game continues to grow, how has your leadership style changed, and how would you describe the way you lead your guys?

“It has changed a lot being more comfortable in that role. With the success we’ve had, with the attention that has come to the team and myself, that makes me feel more comfortable taking on that role with the team.”

Your accuracy was fantastic throughout the season hitting your targets at a 67 percent clip. There is so much that goes into a quarterback being on point at that rate. What were the factors allowing you to be so accurate?

“A bunch of things helped me with my accuracy. My offensive coordinator is great. He puts together great game plans. I have to give huge credit to my receivers and my offensive line; they were great protecting me this year. Everyone around me helped me to get to that point. I am super grateful for everyone helping me.”

With the offseason here, what are you working on with your technique?

“Everything. People ask about what I will focus on most, I am focused on the things I am good at and make better and the things I am weak at to make better. The focus this offseason is a lot about college and getting ready to turn it up a notch for next year.”

Is there anything you will do differently this offseason to prepare for the upcoming season?

“I started a lot earlier this year. I would say my frequency – the amount of training and work off the field, is the thing I am changing or doing differently. I am elevating the level of my workouts.”

The focus for you on the recruiting trail as a quarterback will heat up dramatically after the current seniors wrap up National Signing Day on Feb. 5, if it hasn’t already. I’m sure more and more college programs are hoping to land a verbal commitment from you. What represents the ideal fit for you at the next level?

“I look at three things, this has been cultivated over the years. 1) A good football program – that is a given, 2) a great school, and 3) the culture – that is having the same desired goals and being the best possible player and best student possible.”

How many offers are you holding now?

“I have 17 offers.”

Moss’ Offer Sheet: Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Boston College, California, Colorado, Georgia, Harvard, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, N.C. State, San Jose State, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington State, and Yale

Are there any schools showing interest but have not offered yet?

“Stanford is showing interest. I have been building that relationship with them for a while. They are slow recruiting players; we will see what happens.”

During the season up to now, have you taken any unofficial visits?

“Yes. I took a game day to Berkeley, USC a couple of times, UCLA for games, and I went to Stanford for the Washington game.”

How did the Cal visits go?

“They were great. I have a great relationship with them. I have been building those relationships with the coaches over a long period. They have been great. I cannot thank them enough for how they have treated me and my family though this process.”

And the USC visits?

“That is my childhood school, to play there, I cannot put into words. I have a great relationship with the coaches at USC. Graham Harrell (OC/QB coach) is great. Having an opportunity to play for him would be amazing.”

What about the UCLA visits, how have they gone?

“Similar to Cal. They have been upfront throughout the recruiting process and have been good to me and my family. It is great how they handle themselves. They have shown a ton of love to me. I am really high on them. I feel their program is going in the right direction.”

Are you taking any visits coming up?

“I do plan on taking some visits, but have no set dates yet. I plan on visits Stanford, Cal, UCLA, USC, and Michigan.”

The pressure on junior quarterbacks after the seniors have signed is intense. Have you started thinking about a commitment date?

“I will commit on March 7, on my mom’s birthday.”

Nice. Last question for you. Are you going to any national camps and/or combines coming up?

“Yes. I am going to Under Armour, Rivals 3-stripe, and The Opening.”

Miller, always great catching up with you. I appreciate your time and wish you success with your upcoming visits.

“Thank you.”
