The only thing that could slow the roll of Lake Charles Prep standout running back TreVonte’ Citizen during the 2019 season was a nagging ankle injury. The 5-11, 210-pound, talent was limited to 49 carries for 305 yards with four touchdowns but was still able to showcase his growing all-purpose nature with six receptions for 85 yards. In addition to his time on offense, the four-star recruit flipped the field for his squad lining up at linebacker and safety contributing 36 tackles, 21 solo, with a pass broken up and a tackle for loss. The talent is there for the 2022 Louisiana recruit, backed up by five offers dropped from Maryland, Mississippi State, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia. The only question left this offseason, how many more programs will extend offers to Citizen in hopes of landing one of the nation’s top running backs?

In an RNG return to the Lab, Citizen updates us on his growing skillset, offseason workouts, and recruiting process.

Interview

TreVonte’, we last spoke early in your sophomore season then covering all the hard work you had put into the offseason to prepare for the grind. Looking back, how did the 2019 season go for you overall?

“For me, it did not go as planned. I preferred it go better, but I am happy with what I did and accomplished.”

What are you working on with your game this spring?

Are you competing at any camps this spring?

“For sure I am going to a Rivals and Under Armour camp. All other camps, I am undecided, but I have a few in mind.”

You have the five offers, which schools are showing interest in you but have not offered yet?

“Notre Dame.”
