Technique can be taught, strength can be added, but there is a point with speed that separates players from elite to run of the mill on the gridiron. With Class of 2021 Fort Smith Northside receiver Tyheen Prosise (5-9, 145), he has the elite kind of velocity that can swing the momentum of any game in a second. His 10.94 track speed in the 100 meters has helped him cover 200 yards on the ground off seven carries with a score, pull down three touchdown passes, and take back six kicks for 188 yards going against Arkansas 7A Central competition.

In an RNG exclusive interview, I sat down with one of Arkansas’ rising junior talents, who is flying under the radar for now, to learn more about his overall game.

Interview

Tyheen, your speed is something else. I want to start off talking about that. How fast are you and when you hit full-speed are you seeing into the past?

“I don’t ever hit top speed, (chuckles) and no I don’t see into the past.”

What is the best-timed run you’ve posted in the 40?

“My best is a 4.37 hand-timed at school. At the Opening, I ran a 4.5-flat (Nashville).”

Do you also run track?

“Yes, sir.”

Which events?

“The 100, 200, 4×1, 4×4, and the 400.”

What are your best times in the 100 and 200?

“The best time in the 100 is 10.94 and in the 200 I think it is a 22.5.”

Nice. At the midway point of the 2019 football season, how has the year gone for you personally so far?

“It is going well. We are struggling as a team on offense but it is going well.”

The coaches like your play-making skills getting you the ball in different ways. Where all are you lining up and how are they getting the rock into your hands this season?

“I am running fast screens, jets, and some posts. They can’t stop that with my speed.”

What style of offense is the team executing?

“We are in a Spread running trips and stack formations.”

In which ways are you seeing your skills improve on the field?

“From the summer, my vision and catching has gotten a lot better. My blocking has also gotten better.”

Which game has been your best so far?

“The Central game has been my best. I had three touchdowns and I blocked really well in that game.”

A big part of the game is to always fine-tune your skills. What are you constantly working on in practice to push your game forward?

“I am working on my route running and catching. I stay after practice with (quarterback) Dreyden Norwood to run routes and get our timing right.

The Grizzlies had a slugfest against Central last week and now you guys are preparing to go on the road to face Catholic High (3-2). What kind of game are you expecting from the Rockets on Friday?

“I know they are better than last year on defense. They look better on film. It’ll be a tough game.”

You guys have five games left in the regular season, what do you want to have accomplished before the season ends?

“I want to have the most rushing yards in-state and over 10 touchdowns. On kick return, I want four taken back for a touchdown. I want us to make the playoffs.”

Tyheen, it was great learning more about you and your game today. I appreciate your time and wish you and the team success the rest of the season.

“Thank you.”
