Interview Part Two: Long Beach DE Curtis Weaver the straw the stirs St. Anthony’s defense

In Part One of the interview with St. Anthony’s defensive lineman Curtis Weaver we covered the 2014 season, got an idea of how the Saints may do in 2015, and talked about some of the moves the 6’4”, 265 pound, tour de force likes to use during the game against opposing offensive linemen.

We closed the first part of the interview going over recruiting and how Mr. Weaver may choose where he plays his college ball based off academics, the coaching staff, and a school’s fan base. In Part Two we pick-up the interview on unofficial visits, offseason workouts, and why the All-League performer loves football.

You have offers from Nevada, San Diego State, Washington State, Wisconsin, San Jose State, and Virginia while schools like Duke, Boston College, Cal, and UCLA have shown some level of interest throughout the recruiting process. Which one-day college camps will you attend this summer?

“UCLA, SDSU (San Diego State), besides Duke, Cal, Washington State, and Washington for now, that’s all I know of. I may make more unofficial visits down the road. Oh, and I’m taking one to Nevada.”

Which schools have you unofficially visited already?

“USC, UCLA, and San Jose State, just locals but I’m planning on going on more. Duke will be one for sure. Washington State will be one in June and I think when I go to Washington State I’ll try to go to Washington then too. And then I’ll try to go up to Stanford and go up to Oakland for Cal. I was supposed to go already but driving situations…”

Unofficial to San Jose State

How did your visit to USC go?

“That went good. I met with Coach (Justin) Wilcox, the defensive coordinator. That went good, they came out here to a practice to talk to me the D-line coach (Chris Wilson) and running back coach (Johnny Nansen). I feel like they are interested in me.”

How did the visit to UCLA go for you?

“UCLA went good. I stayed after practice, dropped off my transcript, and I got to watch the D-line work. I got to talk to Coach (Kennedy) Polamalu (running backs coach) and Coach (Eric) Yaber (wide receivers coach). They said they would keep in touch with me and I’m waiting for them to hit me back up”

What about your visit to SDSU?

“It went great I talked to the coaches after practice. It was a scripted scrimmage. I got to see how they run things and stuff. I went to the office talked to Coach Tony (White, assistant coach, recruiting coordinator). He told me about the recruiting process, this was before the offer. I talked to the D-line coach (Osia Lewis), he was out sick. He said he was going to evaluate my film. Then the offered me, that was great. Coach Tony is a great guy, he’s a great guy to talk to.”

What position are the different schools recruiting you to play?

“It’s all defensive line. D-end, D-line. I think Nevada is D-line only, all the other schools D-end and D-Line combined. Nevada is the only school that is defensive tackle strictly. Also some schools look at me as tight end, and I plan to use my senior year as an example.”

What are you doing in the offseason to prepare for the camp circuit and your senior season?

“Offseason I’ve been going to a workout facility named Epic. I’ve been going there since my sophomore season. I can truly say that they’ve changed my game. How athletic I got and like my hips and stuff. They’ve built my work ethic up and got me faster. Without the faster, and they got me stronger – over the first two years of my weightlifting. We hired a strength and conditioning coach. He’s been on me a lot to get bigger. He’s really helped me to get stronger. That’s what I’ve been doing. I’ve been taking jogs in the morning to the park and stuff.”

What individual honors did you earn at the end of last year?

“I was All-League, All-CIF, and honorable mention Dream Team for Long Beach. Those were the main three.”

When you watch football during the season who do you enjoy watch playing the game?

“I really enjoy watching J.J. Watt (Houston Texans). That’s what I’m looking up to. He’s all over the line. I look up to him. I also look up to, before Greg Hardy (Dallas Cowboys) had all that stuff happen, how his hands were. I want to have my hand placement like him. Off the ball I like Von Miller (Denver Broncos) or Aldon Smith (San Francisco 49ers).

“On offense I like LeGarrette Blount (Pittsburgh Steelers), (Rob) Gronkowski (New England Patriots) and Antonio Gates (San Diego Chargers).”

You’ve talked a lot about academics and mentioned the medical field earlier, do you know what you want to major in once on campus?

“I’m planning to major in kinesiology. I don’t know yet, I’m just going into the medical field because my auntie and uncle work in the medical field too. I’d like to be a physical therapist, stuff like that, just to stay close to sports as much as possible. My plan too is business.”

What is your favorite part of playing football?

“To be honest, just being out there. It’s also a fun time to be with my friends. I’ve been around it my whole life, I love the sport. What I really love is letting my anger out. That’s what I like. That’s what I used to use football for but now I can see it’s more important than that. It helps me be a better person and it will help me throughout life.”

When asked why I take Viagra Generic, I answer that I’m all right. Of course, I’m not a sexual superman, but the women don’t complain. For now, I haven’t noticed any decrease in viagragener.com sexual activity due to my age.

Curtis already has a lot of offers on the table. After making the rounds on his summer recruiting trip more offers are sure to follow. Another thing that will help the destructive defensive lineman is his grades. Curtis is currently carrying a 4.0 GPA with a cumulative of 3.35. Once he takes his ACT even more recruiting opportunities are sure to open up.
